Nature heals in unpredictable ways. That first quoted paragraph is so cliche, yet so telling of many of the follys surrounding environmentalism.

Mount St. Helens erupting with new life 25 weeks later,or less.

I went up there to try and catch the huge trout being reported,rained like hell,drank beer,enjoyed all the flowers and wildlife running around.

Ah yes, but this was a "natural disaster." Mankind could not POSSIBLY be a part of nature!

We visited a couple years ago. The area being cared for by private indutry has large forests and tall trees. The area cared for by the US Forest Service is populated by grasses and small trees and bushes. You can tell within about 10 feet which is which.

By the way, stop at the little resturant on the way out. It's on the right side of the road, and fixes burgers and peach cobbler to die for!
