DC has one of the toughest set of gun laws in the nation...so how come so many people keep getting shot there? Nobody ever asks that question.

Hell, 46-thousand people a year get killed in cars in America, but who's advocating getting rid of cars? No one.

"They're trying to see to it that more children get killed," said D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, a Democrat.

I am at a total loss for words.

""Many people live in the District during the week who are members of Congress and they would like to be able to protect themselves in their homes"

This concerns me actually. I would have expected something along the lines of, "Gun bans are unconstitutional, we are lifting it" From the good senator from Texas.

Eleanor Holmes Norton and Da Mayor kill me. They choose to ignore the stats and the simple fact their socialist utopia went do the Sh*tter.

Most private handgun ownership in the District has been prohibited by law since 1976.

Guess nobody told the criminals.

" in particular the three children who have died from gun violence this year," he said."

This idiot doesn't seem to realize she just made a case FOR people having handguns.

The D.C. area banned guns, and yet, 3 children are dead from gun violence.

This dolt doesn't seem to get that the ban only took guns away from people who want to protect themselves from the criminals, and left guns in only the criminals hands.

What a maroon!

It's funny how some people can have this attitude about guns (williams & norton). Yet, they never want to admit that this "faux" gun control law has NOT solved their problem. HELLO........people of DC..................people in DC are still getting killed. How is this possible if you do not allow guns in DC? Are the guns owned legally? How can a GUN kill a person if is is not in the hands of a HUMAN? Please explain this to me.

The rate of deaths of civilians by gunfire in DC is 20% higher than the rate of death of American troops in Iraq. Yet the elitist bums in Congress refuse to let DC residents protect themselves. How loathsome.

I get Delegate Norton's point, she is concerned that a 20 year old child might get shot while trying to rape a lady such as Mrs. Hutchison in Mrs. Hutchison own beadroom.

"Crack down on the criminal as opposed to taking away the rights of law-abiding citizens," said Sen. George Allen, Virginia Republican.

Kay should quitely do what she is constitutionally allow to do -- bear arms. Also, Kay would be better protected in her house by a 12 gauge "riot" shotgun.

They should have named the law after prominent (deceased) Washington D. C. resident and Liberal gun control advocate Carl Rowan:

"The fate of being charged with illegal gun possession was not escaped
by Carl Rowan when the pro-gun-control columnist used a[n unregistered] .22 pistol to shoot a midnight intruder, who turned out to be a teenage skinny-dipper using his backyard pool. Mr. Rowan's sensational 1988 trial ended in a hung jury and he was not retried.
In his autobiography, Mr. Rowan said he still favors gun control but
admits being vulnerable to a charge of hypocrisy."
