Subject: Schundler LIED tonight

Date: Wed, 18 May 2005 02:26:52 +0000

Michael -

Although I was staying out of any involvement in this primary, I was inclined to vote for Bret, until he outright LIED tonight.

At the time McGreevey and Sharpe James made their backdoor Newark arena proposal to use Port Authority moneys, Lew Eisenberg was long gone from the Port Authority. In fact, he had left the Port Authority to serve as a member of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation in January, 2002, prior to McGreevey's inauguration. As you will recall, he was replaced as Chair by Jack Sinagra.

When Lew was attempting to formulate a Newark arena proposal for Don DiFrancesco, he was adamant in his opposition to the use of Port Authority money for any Newark arena financing.

Bret's attack on Lew, not once but twice, was mendacious and reprehensible. Nobody in New Jersey did more for George W. Bush than Lew Eisenberg. Lew's post- September 11 service as Port Authority Chair was nothing short of heroic. Schundler's attack on Lew was McCarthyism (guilt by association) and slander at its worst.

I will now vote for Forrester just to defeat Bret. He owes Lew a public apology.

You may use my name and quotes above, as long as you make absolutely no reference to either my federal job title or my status as a member of the Bush administration. That would be a violation of the Hatch Act. Instead, you should refer to me as "Alan Steinberg, former Executive Director of the New Jersey Meadowland Commission and a long time Republican political operative."

If you want to interview me on this, I am willing to take leave time from my job for this purpose.

I am seething.

Alan

This is an e-mail posted via a link on the New Jersey Politics Website today.

It appears that Bret Schundler no longer is the "candidate of choice" of Lewis Eisenberg and his associates, based on the communication from an Alan Steinberg.

If I remember correctly, Mr. Eisenberg was a former partner of Jon Corzine's at Goldman-Sach's, a former DemocRat, and an individual who has set up a PAC to aid "moderate" Republicans and defeat conservative Republicans. He was also a backer of the discredited liberal RINO and former governor of New Jersey, Chrissie Whitman. (Ms. Whitman, a limousine liberal and unabashed "Rockefeller Republican" has recently written a book available now in bookstores, attacking conservative Republicans.)

The respondent's employment of the canard "McCarthyism" says it all. It shows where these people are coming from and what they think.

Conservative New Jersey Republicans would do well to reconsider any intention they might have had about voting for or supporting Mr. Forrester.

By the way, Donnie "D" DiFrancisco was a RINO and former temporary governor of New Jersey when Chrissie took flight on her broom to Washington to serve as head of the EPA in Bush's first term and demonstrated her lack of gratitude while in that position. Donnie was either defeated in a primary in New Jersey last gubernatorial go-around or withdrew, I can't remember which. He failed to support nominated Republican candidate Schundler and attacked him during the general election, if I recall correctly. One of the reasons Schundler lost last time around was because he was perceived as "too conservative" by liberal Jersey RINOs like Donnie "D" and his ilk. Donnie D was an outspoken supporter of gun control if I recall correctly.

Ahh, the Byzantine intracacies of New Jersey politics never cease to amaze me.

If there are any residents of the Garden State out there who have information to the contrary on this subject, please present it. Sometimes my memory isn't very good, and being away from there has cut me off from recent antics by the New Jersey Limousine Liberal Rinos.

I'm REALLY glad I no longer live there!!

This letter sounds like one of those seminar callers to Rush Limbaugh. They always start out with "I am a long time listener and a big fan, BUT..." and they always end with trashing Rush and every thing he has ever said on air.

I don't think Bret Schundler was ever the choice of any of the insider, back-slapping, mutual-hand-washing crowd of the NJ Republican Party.

I'm not sure what you are implying.

If I were a Jersey resident I would vote for Schundler, no hesitation.

I have heard that Comrade Corzine has a lot of skeletons in his closet, if the footshooting Repubs in Jersey have the nerve to pull them out and use them.

"I have always been a conservative through and through, but this [insert invented outrage] has me steaming mad! Most of my friends were going to vote for [insert conservative candidate] but after this, we've all decided to vote for [toe-sucking liberal creep] now! We've looked at his positions, and he really seems to be the best candidate for the job!"

NEW JERSEY (Secret Underground Conservative Outpost)

"Mr. Steinberg received his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and his law degree from the University of Wisconsin law school in Madison, Wisconsin"

Madison, Wisconsin.....finishing school for RINO's

Yeah, I think you're right about that. Schundler has been there and done that. Forrester is just too much of an unknown quantity, and what experience he does have seems to be negative. Schundler actually cut taxes in Jersey City, which is not exactly Republican-Friendly territory.

I just wish they would start talking more about corruption in New Jersey. Talking about property taxes in NJ without talking about corruption is like talking about bilge pumps on the Titanic without talking about icebergs.

It won't matter how many skeletons Comrade Corzine has in his closet. Hell, you could have him on video murdering someone and it would not matter. He could announce that his platform was to beat everyone in NJ over the head with a hammer and too many of the good citizens of the State of New Joisey would still vote for him. Of course, they would whine to no end that they were being beaten over the head with a hammer but thats liberal land for ya.
