Radcliffe and E-town survive on the edge of Fort Knox.....it would be suicide for the theatre t show Fonda's movie. If Ft Knox closed, so would these 2 towns.
Radcliff is dependent on Ft. Knox. Elizabethtown, however, would only take a strong hit. It would still survive because it is a regional center for commerce, hospital, etc. Besides, it was a pretty good size town before Ft. Knox was built.
Radcliff and Elizabethtown are no longer as dependent on Fort Knox for their existence. They have in the past fifteen years become bedroom commuities for jobs in Louisville, but without the headaches that city provides, being just forty five minutes from downtown (thirty minutes if you drive like I do down Muldraugh hill).
Radcliffe more than E-town but yah you are right. Whats not in the army around there is still pretty doggone patriotic.
Strangely enough there is a Hardin County in Iowa, with a Radcliffe in it. And there are 2 movie theaters in Hardin County, Iowa. I was trying to figure out where this Hardin County was. Kinda freaky.
