Let Chafee know how you feel about his spineless acts.

Oh, and get this, the Democratic Underground advertised a Meet & Greet with Chafee held in Wakefield on May 4.

Pubbies better run someone against this RAT!

Get a grip.

RI is 80% Democrat. Chafee is the best the GOP will ever have from that state.

I know. R.I. is very Blue, and we're probably stcuk with Chafee for a long time. But the other Republicans and the Whitehouse can withhold favors from RINO Chafee and R.I.!

I have to agree with you. Frankly, I'm not sure it's really in our best interest to change the rules now anyway. Make the Dems do a real filibuster first. See if they can justify their behavior to the American people. If there is enough public pressure, they'll cave, and there will be no need to change the rules.

If not, then we can change the rules.

I think McCain and Chaffee are givens, and Snowe is all-but a given against restoring Constitutional order to the Seante, regarding voting on nominees. Collins is iffy too. GOP leadership would "permit" one more to vote for status quo with no repurcussions from the national party.

Hugh Hewitt has said that, if Chafee bolts for this, he will give and advocate giving money to whichever Dem runs against him. I think he said that'd be the first time in his life.

First needs to get this done in the next 24 hours before more "Profiles in Moderation" RINOs happen.

"I know. R.I. is very Blue"

Rhode Island is a classic "People's Republic"; I know this from experience. RI does occasionally elect Republicans, but they are of the squishy "purple" variety. Classic RINOs (like Linc's dad, the legendary John Chaffee). Conservatives couldn't get elected animal control officer in Rhode Island.

Make the Dems do a real filibuster first.

The DEMs have successfully used Senate rules to implement delaying tactics to prevent a measure from being voted on. By the Senate's definition of "filibuster," the DEMs have mounted a "real filibuster."

filibuster - Informal term for any attempt to block or delay Senate action on a bill or other matter by debating it at length, by offering numerous procedural motions, or by any other delaying or obstructive actions.

http://www.senate.gov/reference/glossary_term/filibuster.htm

If you mean "make them talk," I am a stick-in-the-mud who, even after searching for several hours, including Riddick's Senate Procedure, can't find the "talk or vote" rule. The fact that many Senators have taken to the floor doesn't mean they can be forced to.

The big show starts tomorrow. BUT ... Frist is going to allow one or two days of debate on Pricilla Owens just to show that this is not about running over the "rights" of the minority to fairly debate a nomination. I would expect him to seek a ruling from the chair on Friday or possibly late Thursday!

They might cave UNTIL the Supreme Court comes open and then they would lose their political base if they caved.
