I must say it's refreshing to read a piece that when discussing the 2008 Republican field does NOT mention McCain or Hagel. Because no way in hell are they going to get that nomination.
Cheney doesn't want it. I will admit the idea of him running against any of the Democrats amuses me. He isn't intimidated by them. Whoever we select must evidence the same lack of fear. Anyone that crawls into a hole when Hillary walks by need not apply.
This is what's worrisome about Dr. Rice. She's too polite and her voice tends to quaver. No experience at campaigning, and the run for the presidency is big league campaigning. Too nice to deliver a punch, or too afraid to offend, Rice could snatch defeat in '08, even against Hillary. Not that I expect it'll be Hillary.
