Yes, I think the defensive cuts will be self inflicted and are probably just scratches. Twana Brawly smeared herself with feces, and others have cut themselves to support their stories.
There is no point in a molester slashing a potential victim. The usual MO is to grab and abduct. If the abduction is resisted they usually just leave as causing damage is likely to get the police involved. If this is a hoax it will probably be sorted out in a few days.
