A top Mexican official said yesterday "there is no wall that can stop" the flow of illegal aliens from Mexico into the United States and that money spent on such proposals would be better spent on ways to "regularize" immigration and fight terrorism.
Interior Minister Santiago Creel, seen as a likely presidential candidate next year, said U.S. attempts to halt the flow of Mexicans and others into the U.S. through the southern border over the last 100 years have failed. New measures would meet the same fate, he said.
"We see this as bad because building walls in no way contributes to the construction of a good neighborhood," said Creel at a news conference in Mexico City.
Referring to a bill passed unanimously by the U.S. Senate this week, the man who oversees political order, national security and immigration issues said: "It seems to us an extreme measure."
The Senate action was included in the $82 billion spending bill for military operations and calls for a ban on issuing drivers licenses to undocumented workers. The bill also provides funds for the completion of a San Diego-area border fence separating California and Mexico.
"Immigration provides great benefits to the American economy and to the Mexican economy," he said. "There is no wall that can stop it."
Sounds like a threat to me.
Or a dare...
Put a few snipers along the border. After a few illegals get picked off, I guarantee border crossings will drop off to zero in a matter of days.
I think the Israelis will be done with their wall soon and there will eb a lot of Tall wall builders looking for work. I think they can build one that they wont be able to get through.
Exactly what I think. If we start shooting at them maybe they will think twice about crossing! Why should they worry - they get sent back and then do it again!
I don't know.
I'd build a wall that was 1/4 mile high and 1/4 mile deep, 1/10 a mile thick, made out of titanium and electrified at 100,000 volts, covered with razor wire and guarded by dogs that spit out killer bees when they barked, and the killer bees would have laser eyes that burned holes through people.
Walls? We don't need no stinkin walls....
We need 300 ft of no mans land sewn with Land Mines ....
How lucky do ya feel there, Padro
Mexico is encouraging, wanting and helping illegals come into this country and it's time we learned that they are not our friends.
"fricken lazers"
We could capture some illegals, incarcerate them, and make them build the wall...Ironic!
That needs to be repeated.
[[Put a few snipers along the border. After a few illegals get picked off, I guarantee border crossings will drop off to zero in a matter of days.]]
I beleive that this whole illegal immigraton will come to a head later this year. I voted for George Bush twice but I have absolutely had it with him and his outright refusal to protect the borders of this great nation and his sellout of the American worker. I absolutely would NOT vote for him again if he could run for a third term.
Their economy needs to find a way to survive with out the US$$. Start billing Mexico for all of the money on services paid out to illegals. Make them pay for their own.
There is no wall that can stop it. Walls with razor wire and gun towers keep people in prison for years, I think it can keep illegals out.
Sounds that way to me too, "we are comming, we are going to take your country from you and there not a damn thing you can do about it", is how it sounds to me.
The "top Mexican official" must be soooooo proud of his little cr@p-hole country that everyone is clamoring to leave. And BTW, "top Mexian official" never dare an American.
They are doing more than encouraging emmigration...they are bussing their hardened criminals to the border and letting them waltz across (maybe more of a hat dance than a waltz). Maybe we could release our hardened criminals into their country.
