DAY 14
AFTER PRESIDENT ANNOUNCES
 SOCIAL SECURITY PROPOSAL;
DEMOCRATS TO CONGRESSIONAL DEMOCRATS: COME UP WITH A PLAN

"Two weeks after President Bush outlined a clear course to permanently strengthen Social Security for future generations, Democrats have yet to offer anything more than angry political attacks. It's disappointing Democrats still don't understand they are the minority party because of their failure to offer a positive agenda, and even former Democrat leaders agree that their party's obstructionism is not a substitute for real ideas.  If Democrats want to maintain any credibility, they need to stop saying 'no' and start coming to the negotiating table with their own solutions."

-Tracey Schmitt, RNC Press Secretary

Former House Ways And Means Committee Chairman Dan Rostenkowski (D-IL) To Democrats: "You've Got To Come Up With A Program. You've Got To Show Some Gumption." (Lynn Sweet, "Rosty Says Get A Plan," The Hill, 5/12/05)

·        Rostenkowski: "You Know What I Would Do If I Were The President? I'd Take It Off The Table And Say, 'OK, Come Up With Something.' And The Democrats Would Be Frightened As Hell." (Lynn Sweet, "Rosty Says Get A Plan," The Hill, 5/12/05)

Former President Bill Clinton: "[I] Think [Democrats] Need To Come Up With A Plan Of Their Own." (ABC News' "The Note," 5/5/05)

·        President Clinton: "I Think The Democrats Should Say What They Are For On Social Security In The Next Couple Weeks ... The Democrats Should Have A Plan And They Should Talk To The President And The Congressional Republicans About It." (ABC News' "The Note," 5/5/05)

Jason Furman, Former Economic Adviser To John Kerry, Called Doing Nothing "The Dumbest Possible Plan You Could Imagine."  (John D. McKinnon, "White House Defends Reining in Pensions of Affluent," The Wall Street Journal, 5/5/05)

Matt Miller, Senior Fellow At Liberal Think Tank, Center For American Progress: "You'd Never Guess From The Democratic Hysteria That President Bush's Plan To 'Progressively Index' Social Security Is An Idea We Liberals May One Day Want To Embrace." (Matt Miller, Op-Ed, "Wanted: Responsible Demagoguery," The New York Times, 5/11/05)

DEMOCRAT FORECAST ON SOCIAL SECURITY:
SEVERE OBSTRUCTION, NO IDEAS

Democrats Continue To Attack President Bush's Plan For Social Security, Offer No Plans Of Their Own:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA): "We Are Ready For The Fight." (Rep. Nancy Pelosi, "Pelosi: 'Social Security Has Represented Dignity And Independence To Millions Of Women,'" Press Release, 5/10/05)

Rep. Sander Levin (D-MI): "A Spoonful Of Artificial Sweetener Won't Lead Us To Vote For [Personal Accounts]." (Deb Price, "Social Security Proposal Splits GOP," The Detroit News, 5/12/05)

The democrats have a plan like Kerry had a plan.

How many plans did Kerry say he had ?

Those Dems must sit around and contemplate plans all day long. Just never any details (or plan).

Democrats: "A plan? You mean we just can't say no? Our vicious rhetoric isn't enough? Why the gall of Bush!"

Nevermind the worthlessness of any Kerry plan

Here's the arrogance of John Kerry....

We were at war.
Kerry was a Senator.
Kerry had a plan.
He wouldn't share the plan with the CIC.

Pathetic

The Democrats have a plan. It's to raise taxes, redistribute wealth, regulate business and the economy into bare subsistance, and thereby keep increasing the number of people dependent on government.

This has always been the plan. They just can't publicize it.
