What I mean by registering is going through the process of becoming a citizen. Are they here illegally? Yes. Should they go back to their home country and reapply for visas? Sure, why not. Will this force thousands of American businesses to close in the interim? Yes.
It is easy to say, shut the border, collect everyone, tell businesses if they do not turn in their illegals or deny them services they will be subject to heavy fines. Yes, it is the right thing to do. But is it the most practical?
And like everything going on, there is no solution because politicians are up to their eyeballs in special interests. Finally, I read this morning that this should be a Democrat initiative because it is a social problem. Still waiting for them to do something.
