Today Show Glows over Schwarzenegger Woes, Depicts Opposition as Teachers & Nurses - not Unions
The Today Show | governsleast governsbest

When it comes to attacking Republicans, it seems that all are fair game for the Today Show (with the possible exception of John McCain). Today was in a paroxysm of schadenfreude delight this morning, reveling in Arnold Schwarzenegger's political struggles.

As described by Campbell Brown [daughter of a convicted, corrupt Lousiana Dem politician], "not long ago Schwarzenegger seemed unstoppable, but support started slipping a few months ago and now The Terminator might be in serious trouble."

What is really going on? Arnold is in a battle with big public labor unions, whose demands are hurting the state financially.

But Today NEVER ONCE made reference to unions, never once used the word "union", instead portraying Arnold as being opposed by "firefighters, teachers and nurses." That certainly puts him in a much more unsympathetic light than if Today had told the truth, doesn't it?

Today then ran a clip of liberal talking head Sherry Bebitch Jaffe proclaiming that Arnold in talking tough on controlling the borders, Arnold is "using llegal immmigration to shore up support from conservatives."

In a state literally overrun by illegals, where illegals now boldly speak of "LA, Mexico," are only "conservatives" concerned? Jaffe went on to describe Arnold "naive when it comes to politics."

Anyone who thinks that illegal immigration is a conservatives-only issue will find out soon enough at the ballot box who is truly naive.

The segment closed with this parting shot: "People thought Schwarzenegger might be the next Ronald Reagan. Now they're wondering if he might be the next Jesse Ventura."

Thanks for the report. You have a much stronger stomach than I do. I can't make it through 2 minutes of Alan Colmes, let alone several minutes of the Today Show.

Sure is good to see Today's ratings continuing to slip because of one sided propaganda stunts like this. I knew we could count on them!

Wish you were right - since starting these threads I've been diagnosed with acid reflux and pop a daily Nexium!

Today takes its cues from the SF Chronic:

Schwarzenegger upped the ante by lumping teachers and nurses together as special interests and vowing to go to the voters with an initiative drive and a special election later this year if the Democrat-controlled Legislature blocked his restructuring plans.

If there is a California ping list, perhaps somewhere can ping this thread to it.

Actually, it's called NBC reflux.

I'd love to think you're right, but truly, I see little evidence of that here. The state is going under, and people are just going about their personal business without giving much thought to the illegal invasion.

The LA, Mexico billboard(s) backfired. It aroused some sleepers. LATimes is on a fullout mission to destroy Arnold, and paint him inept and racist.

Then we have my fair city: San Diego... which is rife with corruption and democrat shenanigans. See how the illegal invasion always gets set on the back burner?

I'm not a Californian and will defer to your local knowledge. Maybe I was simply expressing my hopes, but it's hard to imagine that at some point the tide of illegal immigration won't start to be a concern to Californians across the board.

I do think it's worth checking out once in a while, just to see how the liberal drumbeat goes on, debunking the absurd notion that some libs put out about "conservative media domination."

I don't know how many illegals we have living in the state, but it's in the millions, which leaves me to ponder "at what point will the voting populace decide enough is enough?"

I'm no longer registered to vote in CA --- I'm cutting out soon. I can't help but have this nagging feeling that the state is in worse shape than is known at this time,... and that maybe that's what has prompted Arnold to finally take on the unions and the illegals.

Who at NBC is the big moneybags/power person who is such a Democratic Party supporter that he/she will let the network go down the drain rather than change the "party line"?

How many firefighters and nurse do you see lining up to give back the benefits that Arnold believes needing modified? Zip, nada.

True. But for Today to depict this strictly as a struggle of the firefighters, nurses and teachers against Arnold, without mentioning that unions are leading the charge, is misleading.
