ISTANBUL, Turkey Syria (search) announced plans to restore diplomatic relations with Iraq more than two decades after ties were severed, boosting regional hopes for securing borders and signaling a willingness to change its policy toward the violence-torn country.

This should be interesting. They will restore diplomatic ties at the same time their terrorists are slipping into Iraq and murdering innocent Iraqi's.

The border with Syria is huge, with the US strapped for troops now, how are they going to possibly have enough troops to seal off the border?

Just like in Iraq, our border with Mexico is huge and we do not have near the manpower to string out to seal it off.
And contrary to what Bill O'Reilly thinks, we don't have enough National Guard troops either, nor is that a mission they should be involved in.
