Olav Njølstad of the Norwegian Nobel Institute has written an Article that claims that US. Int. services stopped the Norwegians from creating the A-bomb.
Norway and Sweden coroporated in enriching uranium and had large amount of "heavy Water" which they planned to use in the creation of the bomb.
Us. Intelligence warned Norwegian auth. that this could lead to agression from U.S.S.R in 1947/48 and again in 1950 when Norway had started negotiantions with France in an energy program, this time due to the fact that they meant the french leader of the energy program was a communist.
All other Norwegian/Swedish uranium attempts stopped when Norway in 1949 when Norway enterd NATO. Njølstad also claims that after WWII and the bombing of Japan, USA was quite hardlined in the fact that no other countries should have the A-bomb.
If Norway had started the program in 47, they would have probably been in the top 5 of the first to have nukes...
Better invite franksolich over.
Szwit happens
Wow... Breaking news from 1948.
Just think, if they had succeeded, we might all be eating rømmegrøt and ordering pizza topped with smoked fjord trout.
47
so it's fairly fresh!
I just had a picture in my mind of a longship armed with missile launchers. If I remember right, Norway currently has a defense minister who takes sh*t from no one, so maybe you do have nukes and no one is the wiser.
Not hard lined enough I guess. Traitors were once dealt with. Remember the Rosenbergs? Clintons...
lutefisk = wmd.
..and I though It was from Scrappleface...you mean it isn't?
How did they plan to deliver it? Bobsleds?
Have you heard about the sabotage made by Norwegians on the heavy water plant. The German was on there way to ship heavy water back to germany.
Yep. Important in that the Germans were on their way to the WRONG process, and had they had the heavy water, would have figured that out soon.
