HILL: MY $$ MAN 'WILL BE CLEARED' - (Hillary standing by Rosen? Don't count on it!)

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton yesterday stood behind her indicted former fund-raiser after prosecutors said Ted Kennedy's brother-in-law taped him making "incriminating" statements about her Senate campaign's Hollywood gala.

"The Senate campaign committee fully cooperated with the investigation. [David] Rosen worked hard for the campaign and we trust that when all the facts are in, he will be cleared," Clinton lawyer David Kendall said in an e-mail to The Post.

Rosen goes to trial May 3 on charges of falsely underreporting the costs of the August 2000 gala — thus inflating the amount of campaign cash ostensibly raised for Clinton at the event.

Wow I've heard of members of a party turning on their own but this is precedent-setting. The DUmmies probably can't make up their minds who to smear. You know if Teddy were a Republican they'd be making references to the Lewinsky days.

Ken Lay claimed he had no idea what was going on at Enron, and he's going to prison, so why should the "I know nothing. NOTHING!" defense work for Hillary? $500K is rather a lot to be ignorant about.

Sen. Kennedy's brother-in-law — New Orleans operative Ray Reggie — was the mystery witness who went undercover for the FBI for 21/2 years and wore a wire to tape Rosen.

Sources told The Post Reggie never taped either Bill or Hillary Clinton during the time that he was working undercover for the FBI, from July 2002 through last December.

Phew! Now I'm relieved. You're a normal man!

BTW......try to imagine Killery attempting a "fashion statement" like elegant Condi made with those stilletto heeled black boots and the terrific long black coat, when she was touring the European capitals! Hilldabeastie could NEVER pull off a fashion show of that impact and magnitude.

Among other intolerable items, how could we bear seeing every imaginable shade of the same pant suit design for 4 years, let alone 8 years?

Me thinks the FBI and Secret Service don't play well together. The FBI would not want to risk the wire being detected by a technical sweep of anyone one getting close to a principle being protected by the Secret Service.

No she did not!!

Her shyster lawyer David Kendall did. The Hildabeaste, as usual, is far, far above sending a message to us little folks.

This is so typical. If she runs for pres in 2008, IMHO, we'll hear next to nothing directly from her. Maybe during the debates. But there will be NO no-holds-barred Q&A sessions.

...and that is the main feature about her which is so frustrating. She's great at avoiding having to answer any real questions. However, that's one reason for which I personally am hoping that Newt Gingrich might be our Republican nominee. He is SO erudite, such a distinguished scholar, academician and historian that she really wouldn't be able to survive 3 debates with Newt.

Another poorly written article by the Post's hapless "Washington insider." Will someone please tell me here, what is the crime? By deflating expenses to show bigger "profits" shall we say, you've only made an idiot out of yourself for being exposed. I don't get the crime: false reporting to inflate your ego? If this were a taxable institution you'd only have increased your tax liability (a good thing from the government's perspective.) He's obviously an idiot, everyone who works for the Clinton's is morally bankrupt and mindlessly dumb, however I dont get what the crime is here. Could Orin have bothered to cite the statute or law that he broke or the point of this trial?

I agree. It's not as if he's going to get Hillary's "womyn" vote (if you can call them that. You know, the Jane Fonda, post menopausal, "I am womyn here me roar" crowd) so, no loss there. His grasp of history and clarity on the issues is astounding, his ability to lead and rally the troops is second to none. I dont think his controversial past (e.g. dumping his wife during her cancer treatment. Let's face facts, that's his real baggage) is going to lose us any votes we haven't already lost.

Hillary Campaign Finance Director Indicted (1-7-05; the 10-page indictment) smoking gun ^ | 1-2005 | website Posted on 04/21/2005 4:19:42 PM PDT by doug from upland LINK TO VIEW THE INDICTMENT Hillary Campaign Finance Director Indicted Rosen charged with fudging numbers for 2000 Hollywood fundraiser JANUARY 7--The finance director for Hillary Clinton's 2000 U.S. Senate campaign was indicted today on federal charges of filing bogus financial reports with the Federal Election Commission. According to the below indictment, David Rosen reported the false numbers in connection with a "Hollywood tribute" honoring Clinton. Investigators allege that a "wealthy individual" paid more than $1.1 million to underwrite the Clinton gala and that those payments were delivered through "several corporate entities controlled by him." While that whopping sum should have been reported to the FEC as an "in-kind contribution," prosecutors charge that Rosen covered up the real source of the money, and even caused the creation of a fictitious $200,000 invoice to aid his scheme. The August 2000 fundraiser was billed as a "Hollywood Tribute to William Jefferson Clinton," though the funds raised went to his wife's campaign kitty.

That is an article worth posting. (Sorry, I don't understand why Deborah Orin has a job,)

Sen. Kennedy's brother-in-law — New Orleans operative Ray Reggie —

From Wizbang:

Ted's second marriage, to Victoria Reggie, a DC area lawyer, in 1992 seemed to settle him down. He lost a bit of weight, seemed to cut back on his boozing, and in general seemed a bit more respectable. But the female curse that hangs over his head seems to have been deferred, not denied.

This time it wasn't exactly a woman that is getting him in trouble, but said woman's brother. Ray Reggie, 43, was a political operative in New Orleans who got himself in a bit of trouble a few years ago. He got caught not only ripping off three banks for the sum of 3.5 million dollars, he also pulled over teenage girls with a blue light on his car in the hopes of winning their favors.

But the FBI didn't toss him away immediately. They came to an agreement with Reggie that kept him out of jail for a bit while he continued his political work -- but now wearing a wire.

Reggie continued his political shenanigans over the last three years, but now the FBI has it all on tape. They have him meeting with both Bill and Hillary Clinton, for example, and several high-ranking members of her staff. In fact, one of her top fund raisers, David Rosen, is going on trial in Los Angeles next month for violating election laws at a 2000 fund-raiser for Hillary's Senate campaign, and evidence from Reggie is expected to play a key role.

Now that the story is finally breaking (Reggie's trial started in 2001, was pleaded out 2002, but the details were only made public recently), the speculation is flying fast and furious. Did Ray Reggie set up his brother-in-law? Did Ted know just how much trouble Ray was in, and did he "freeze him out" of anything sensitive? Did he aim Ray at the Clintons, hoping to save his wife's brother's hide (along with his own) at the expense of the family that has largely supplanted the Kennedys in Democratic power circles?

"Hillary....You're smelling more like three week old dead fish everyday....keep it up!..."

Just received this funny one in an email:

WALKING EAGLE

"Hillary Clinton was invited to address a major gathering of the American Indian Nation last weekend in Arizona. She spoke for almost an hour on her future plans for increasing every native American's present standard of living. She referred to her career as a US Senator, and how she had voted "yes" 1,237 times for every Indian issue that came to her desk for approval. Although the Senator was vague on the details of her plan, she seemed most enthusiastic about her future ideas for helping her "red brothers".

At the conclusion of her speech, the Tribes presented the senator with a plaque inscribed with her new Indian name - Walking Eagle. The proud senator then departed in her motorcade, waving to the crowds.

A news reporter later inquired to the group of chiefs of how they had come to select the new name given to the senator. They explained that Walking Eagle is the name given to a bird so full of sh$! that it can no longer fly."
