BAGHDAD, Iraq - The U.S. military said Saturday it had detained six men suspected of shooting down a Russian-made helicopter carrying 11 civilians including six Americans north of Baghdad.
An Iraqi civilian helped U.S. soldiers locate the suspects, who were apprehended at two houses Saturday afternoon, the military said in a statement.
Is it me, or do these captures seem to be happening a lot faster now?
In the past, in fact, most of the attackers got away.
Why are we detaining them?
Good news!
Tell them to start running.
I hope they got the shooter and the camera man, who probably works for al jazeera.
"Why are we detaining them?"
1)Because we are not like them
2)Because they were too cowardly to put up a fight when we caught up with them.
Why? They'll only die tired.
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The U.S. military said on Saturday it had detained six Iraqi men in connection with the shooting down of a commercial helicopter this week in which 11 people were killed, including six Americans.
The arrests were made following a tip-off from Iraqi civilians, who led U.S. forces to where the suspected attackers lived. Three men and bomb-making material was found at the first house searched. Subsequent searches led to the seizure of three more men caught making bombs, the U.S. military said.
I hope we don't put panties on their heads.
Good news! Those b@astards!
Because we are not like them

So therefore keep them around. So they too can be released back into public just like they did at Abu Ghraib. So we run the risk of having them kill six more Americans? I am tired of gutless people hidding under the excuse of "we are better then them", I agree that we are better then them, that is why we should "remove the threat"!
These 6 should be set as examples and immediately dealt with. Slow, painful and video taped.
Because we can interrogate them and get intel from them.
That said, I think the real reason is, "The Iraqis didn't get to them first."
The most mindless phrase in the universe.
I agree.
Were I there, I'd want to know where they got their arms and supplies, if they have any like-minded buddies, and anything else of military utility that I could squeeze out of them. Dead men can't rat out their buddies.
Mao once said "The guerrilla must move amongst the people as a fish swims in the sea".
For this to be possible, two things must be true: the guerilla must have at least passive support among the majority, and must be able to kill those who give information to the government, to discourage informants. It looks like the insurgents have reached the tipping point where people no longer "see nothing" and are not afraid to put in a call to the tip line
Well, no trial for them, just to the wall and put panties on their heads and American Islamist loving commies will send legions of lawyers to their rescue.
