Fans of the spitter, from California to Cape Cod, appeared to outnumber those who condemned the action by about a three to one margin.
Some said he should get a Medal of Honor, one suggested naming him citizen of the year. Thirty two emails offered to cover his bail on disorderly conduct charges.
'We live in a very performative culture, said Janet Rose, who teaches American Studies at the University of Missouri-KC. 'Everything that happens seems to occur in a kind of front stage arena, where everyone is performing out an identity.'

Funny how when Ann Coulter, Bil Kristol and David Horowitz were getting bombarded with pies and salad dressing at universities, the MSM could be bothered with reporting it, and surely couldn't be bothered with printing letters from DUmmies crowing about about it. But now that Jane Fonda gets it, all of a sudden it's a huge problem.

I went to see Ann Coutler, and there was a small book signing event after the lecture...but if they would have opened the doors for anyone to come in after it would have been a circus!
There isn't anything anyone can say about Fonda that will make America love her now, tomorrow or in the future. She committed treason and caused death and at best, despair, of our brave soldiers within the dungeon prison in the Hanoi Hilton. She surfaces now to sell a book...and the country is showing anger more today then back when she opened her mouth and spit out hate. Treason is just that, treason. She is a shame to her gender and profession, and as a citizen of this country.
I love how all of these academics try and make it an issue about 'womens liberation' and miss the traitor angle completely.
Jane must think that the Vietnam vets have extremely short memories.
