Reintroducing parliamentary democracy was the worst thing that could have happened to Kuwait in the wake of the first Persian Gulf war.
If it were left solely up to the Emir, women would already have the franchise. The Sabahs would have made sure of that.
Instead, we have the bizarre situation of allowing radical Islamists to thwart legislative measures intended to INCREASE the dispersal of democratic rights on an egalitarian basis.
