Pikeville has sex offender on roster

PIKEVILLE - On Pikeville College's Internet site, Jermaine Hampton is listed as a member of the school's football team: a 6-foot-4, 264-pound defensive lineman and tight end from Naples, Fla.

Hampton, who is on partial scholarship, also is on a different sort of list: the Kentucky sex offender registry.

But that information is not posted on the college's Web site or anywhere on the private Eastern Kentucky campus because school officials decided to keep quiet about Hampton's past.

KEYWORDS: collegeathletes; crime; florida; football; highereducation; kentucky; sexoffender; sexregistry
This type of cover-up must be exposed more and more at the local level to ensure these sex criminals never harm another person.

Welcome to the reality of Florida football, Blackjack. There are 'ethnic' highschool football players here who are 21 or 22 years old. They can't read-or-write, but they can smash-face in football!

What they do in their free-time is none of our concern! The 1% that learn to speak English may have a future in broadcasting. The rest are doomed.

I'm at a loss! This 'Jermaine Hampton' has a long rap-sheet, yet he wound-up at a Kentucky College, unable to read-or-write, but still made the team, under NCAA rules!

One can only wonder, folks...............FRegards

This is an outrage, and this college is giving a flip excuse for his getting a scholarship. Oh, let's give him a second chance, even though he was the oldest, and biggest, participant of this gang rape of a 16 year-old.

Valdosta State did the right thing which was to cut him loose after his criminal conduct, which is a pattern, not a mistake (regardless of what Pikeville College says).

I only hope that the community in Kentucky stands up for what is right and makes this President, Ron Damron and all those who covered this up accountable before something else tragic happens.

he is still serving three years of unsupervised probation,

I'm suprised he was allowed to leave the state.

The other outrage is this so-called pastor, Mickey Anders.

He talks about how fine this boy is, but I think the victim's father makes the right points

Anders said he is proud of Pikeville College for giving Hampton a second chance, but the victim's father said no one can make his daughter the same offer.

"She's still in counseling and she's afraid to even walk across a parking lot," the father said. "Right now, I've got to deal with this the rest of my life and so does she. And I don't want no other parent to go through what I'm going through."

When Jermaine appeared in court at sentencing, the judge asked him why he did it. Hampton replied, "Becaw it feel good."

j/k, but probably pretty close.

And, actually, can't you tell from his picture, above, that he is a man of character? /sar
