What's with these people? (Not just the sellers, but the buyers?)
I’m guessing that people forge accounts and drive bids up on things like this just to make the news. The seller will never get a check, and may even be in on the media scam.
EBay doesn't get their cut on a non-sale, but probably welcomes the free advertising and dreams of riches it inspires in potential future sellers.
I personally see nothing wrong with the sellers. Genius of capitalism!
