My reference point is the "takeover" in 1994. Think Newt Gingrich without the baggage. He always struck me as an intelligent, well-spoken Conservative who could hold his own with the MSM.; Good speaker with a "Aw shucks"-attitude.
Career Highlights:
Served as executive director of the Mississippi Republican Party from 1973 to 1976.
Top political adviser in the Reagan White House in the mid-1980s.
1993 to 1996- Chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Maybe not. The elections are not until 2008...everyone needs to relax. Haley Barbour and Newt? No way unless they want to GIVE the election to the dems.
