WHY TOM DELAY MUST GO RIGHT NOW -- No. 2

DeLay - No. 1

NOTE: This is the second in a series of reports about Congressman Tom DeLay and why he must be removed from leadership and from the House of Representatives.

I am wondering when the Republican Party is going to finally have its fill with Tom DeLay. That this man is even walking free is beyond belief.

What short memories people have. They forget that DeLay killed a woman. Yes, he did.

It was many years ago. DeLay and some other Republican men were partying with some young single women. Their wives were at home baking cookies while the men were consuming mass quantities of alcohol and going after the young women's cookies.

DeLay took off late from the party to give a ride home to a woman named Mary Jo. Of course, he was in no condition to drive.

Well, you knew it would happen. He drove off a bridge. The car was in about six feet of water and upside down. DeLay made it out of there okay. Mary Jo didn't.

The really interesting part is that Mary Jo's body had very little water in the lungs. She didn't drown, but actually suffocated when the air pocket in which she was breathing was depleted of oxygen.

What did DeLay do? He fled the scene and spent nine hours trying to cover up the crime. Had he gotten help right away, Mary Jo would probably still be alive. Although his state required a certain minimum jail sentence for leaving the scene of a crime where there was an injury, DeLay's sentence was suspended.

This saga was so typical of DeLay. He was a drunk. He was kicked out of Harvard for having a friend take his Spanish final. At the time he drove off the bridge, he was driving with a suspended license. And he paid off Mary Jo's family so they would go away. Yes, DeLay got away with killing this poor young woman, and yet he still holds office.

What? Wait a minute, someone is interrupting me. Are you kidding? It wasn't Tom DeLay who killed the girl, fled the scene, covered up, and paid off the family? It was who? Ted Kennedy? Oh, okay. Never mind.

Hey, that's not fair. The Senate has different standards from the House.

“If Mary Jo Kopechne had lived, she would be 67 years old.
Through his tireless work as a legislator,
Edward Kennedy would have brought comfort to her in her old age
and they both would have supported dfu's confusion.”

You had me going there for a minute. I was thinking, "where is this coming from Doug"? However, I quickly caught on and that is very clever of you. Puts things in perspective quite nice. Thank you.

"The Senate has different standards from the House."

Actually, I think that's true...kind of. Aren't senators supposed to be held to a little higher standard than representatives? A most "august" body, more circumspect, wiser, etc. Isn't that why they're elected for 6 years, versus just 2 for representatives.

Maybe I'm wrong; not unusual for moi.

NO! It's just that we won't stand up against libs.

Most call it compassion. I call it being content.

Thanks for the post. SUPPORT TOM DELAY! Enough of the liberal attempt to destroy this good man. They have nothing on Tom DeLay except hatred. They hate the guy because he is a Republican with a backbone.

You make the choice. Do we support guys like Tom DeLay, or do we want a party of Chris Shays, Lincoln Chafees, etc.? Man, if that's not a sobering enough contrast I don't know what is.

There hasn't been a lot of public speculation as to why Teddy waited so long to report the incident.

The only reasonable explanation is that Teddy was obviously drunk and his handlers figured out that he'd be far better off taking the heat for a ridiculous story than to have a blood-alcohol test result in the public record. So Teddy "slept it off" while Mary Jo's parents waited in vain for word from their daughter. And the MSM protected him. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be able to put something like this past the blogsphere, today -- but I think we all shouldn't miss an opportunity to keep asking Teddy, "How much alcohol had you consumed before you got behind the wheel and killed poor Mary Jo?"

No, I agree with your original idea. DeLay MUST go.

After all, he was a local leader of a highly racist, terrorist organization. These terrorists would dress themselves in white sheets, threaten (and often murder) blacks, Catholics and Jews. Of course I speak of the Ku Klux Klan.

Wait...oh you mean that wasn't DeLay? That was Robert Bird, the Democrat Senator from West Virginia? Never mind. Since he's a democrat its ok.

QUOTE OF THE YEAR "If she had lived, Mary Jo Kopechne would be 62 years old. Through his tireless work as a legislator, Edward Kennedy would have brought comfort to her in her old age."
- Charles Pierce in the Boston Globe Magazine.

MIDI - WHEN I'M 64

He had submerged her then ran away...many years ago
Charles Pierce knows Teddy still would be her friend...looked out for her right to the end
Please stop your laughing...give him a break...come on, it is true
He would have helped her...had he not killed her...when she's 62

We know Teddy would have saved her had he finished lifeguard training...that's well understood
Damn YMCA...they had their lifeguard program cut...and sent him away

He is a drunk and he is a slug...that is clear to all
He had lots of Scotch and emptied out the fridge...then went driving off of the bridge
Please stop your laughing...give him a break...come on, it is true
He would have helped her...had he not killed her...when she's 62

We know Teddy would have saved her had he finished lifeguard training...that's well understood
Damn YMCA...they had their lifeguard program cut...and sent him away

Yes, he is bloated and he is scum...tell us, what's the point
DemocRATS don't answer for crimes they commit...right wing whackos, get over it
Please stop your laughing...give him a break...come on, it is true
He would have helped her...had he not killed her...when she's 62
