If it's just an offensive passage or two, they can usually be covered up with a black felt pen. It works better than you might think. I go by the public library and do that whenever I have some extra time.

I think you forgot the tag... At least I HOPE you did! If not - Shame on You!!! What makes you think you have the right to deface books in the Public Library? Just because you may find something offensive doesn't give you the right to make that decision for everyone else... GEESH!

I'm sure you're kidding because that would be an ignorant and backward thing to do. I'm sure you're brave enough to challenge the library board directly on those things you find offensive rather than be cowardly and deface public property. Right?

".....covered up with a black felt pen....."

redacting is what the USG calls it.....I think if a taxpayer does it, it is still redacting.....and with all the thousands of pages in existence made possible from just your own taxes, SURELY you have a right to redact a few passages or pages :)

Bravo to you......

Vandals for God. We don't need no stinkin' rule of law.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want tax-funded smut but I don't want people destroying public library books. Adults use libraries more than children generally.

Sometimes people put intelligent comments in library books that are actually worth reading.

Ok, look jerky, keyboards aren't cheap and I don't like blowing cola through my nose. If you're going to keep this up, I demand you preface your comments with, "Swallow all drinks please, hillarity is about to ensue". It's only a proper warning. That was the funniest thing I've read in weeks. GJ.

I think I'd retract that statement. That's a Federal crime.

Why, thank you so much for taking it upon yourself to determine what I should be able to read in a book I partially paid for. Some people may call you a bowdlerizing, blue-nosed, busybody vandal, but I am sure you will use self-determined righteousness as your justification, and soldier on for those of us unable to determine these decisions for ourselves.

Please start with that pornographic book, the King James Bible, as it has that nasty Song of Solomon section and unspeakable acts between Lot and his hussy offspring.

You are operating on the same principle as the Earth First guys who damage property that they don't approve of.

Clearly you alone have the insight and clarity of thought to determine what is acceptable for the rest of us to read and what is not. I can only hope that you will expand your work to include newspapers, magazines and our mail Thanks again!
