If he's suppose to be so "prominent", how come I've never heard of him? If he's suppose to be conservative, what's he doing in a liberal interview admitting he's a sexually dysfunctional pervert?

I admire their 40 years together; I appreciate that one can have a love of one's life and mutual support. I prefer to file this under taking available legal steps to protect one's family and loved ones. The article doesn't say that these men believe that the culture should change. The article doesn't quote them as saying domestic partnership laws would not have been adequate for their purpose.

And, you can add one more element to Finkelstein's reality; he is gay, yet he's worked for a gaggle of gay-bashing Republican Senators including Lauch Faircloth (R-N.C.), Jesse Helms (R-N.C), Don Nickles (R-Okla.) and Sen. (Bob) Smith (R-New Hampshire), all of whom voted against legislation banning discrimination against gays while Finkelstein was working for them. (snip)

In a rare interview in December 2004, with Boaz Gaon of Maariv, an Israeli daily newspaper, Finkelstein seemed to be suggesting that things may have shifted too far to the right in the U.S.: "The political centre has disappeared, and the Republican Party has become the party of the Christian right more so than in any other period in modern history" he said. I'm not a believer in 11th commandments. I'm a believer in calling 'em like I see 'em. His act lends tons of legitimacy to the illegal actions of the Massachusetts Supreme Court, and to our opposition in general rhetorically. Better now than during an election year, is the best I can say for it.
