ADSCAM -- Canada's Corruption Scandal Breaks Wide Open

Canada's Watergate (only better .. with Liberals in the cross-hairs!) -- When Justice John Gomery lifted his own publication ban Thursday on jaw-dropping testimony by Groupaction president Jean Brault, a nightmare of allegations against the federal Liberal party gushed forth into the public domain in a firestorm of ferocity.

Gomery Considering Charging Bloggers It has been suggested to me by what is admittedly second-hand information, that Justice John Gomery will consider charging any Canadian blogger who not only provides a link to a site containing banned material, but any Canadian blogger who “names the site containing the banned material.”
I dont think Canadians will accept this.
This is absolutley devastating information.
http://mkbraaten.blogspot.com
 Gomerygate [ 1, 2 ]

Blogosphere 1, Liberals 0 -- It is the borderlessness of the Internet that has made possible the release of the truth about the Liberals to the Canadian public. Yet we are still in a phase of change where the Liberals are able to harass and intimidate some Canadian blogs, such as NealeNews, into silence. At this point, it was the Americans who came to Canadians’ aid, by posting the information denied to Canadians on a number of American websites.

Beat to Quarters (FR mentioned)
-- Captain's Quarters has really stirred up the Canadian blogosphere by carrying details of court testimony on a governmental scandal that is banned from publication in the Great White North. The scandal is about the use of Canadian government money, laundered through a private ad agency, to hire Liberal Party hacks, and is so serious it may catapault the Canadian conservatives into power. This incident marks one more step by the blogosphere into the realm of news generation as opposed to mere commentary.

Canada: Blogger busts Adscam ban, officials thinking of charging Canadian blogger. -- For those who don't know, the American blog which busted the Canadian wankers is:

Just keep scrolling for multiple entries.  Actually, here's the post which reveals the testimony, the reporting of which is a crime in Canada:

According to 'authorities' linking to the post is a crime in Canada.

Up late tonight???? -- I don't think it's over yet - even though everyone assumes it is.
The opposition will have plenty of chances to topple the government during opposition days in the weeks to come. Explosive Gomery testimony is to come. Grewal's tape is pretty damning (John Ibbitson believes that if it was released 24-48 hrs earlier the vote would have gone the other way).

Thank you so much for all your work, backhoe.

I guess I'm disheartened. I'm tired of hearing Stephen Harper be called "scary" and a "misogynist" when he was just being truthful.

Really, if Belinda had been a man and Stephen had said exactly the same things about why "he" had left the party, would he be called a man-hater? No.

I'm starting to understand why so many Canadians are cynical and apathetic. I'm starting to become that way myself, after four years here.

Thanks for looking... and keep your chin up, it takes time to overcome years of propaganda and prejudice.

That "scary" card was so overplayed here in the USA that it has lost much- though not all- of its impact.

You just got Fox news up there, and while it will not change things overnight, things will change. People do not like being deceived.

We had a lot of groundwork laid by talk radio, going back to 1988.

The old media and its distorsions and agendas is still powerful- the Terri Shaivo case points to that, still- but it is losing its once-monlithic grip.

There is much work to be done in both our countries, overcoming the Media, both reporting and entertainment arms of it, correcting the desire for a Nanny-State that beaureacrats, teachers, and union leaders want, and educating the public at large.

There are still substantial numbers of people who harbor the lethally-wrongheaded and deceptive belief that "the government" has a great big bag of free money, and that whichever pressure group they belong to has first claim on it. If you can ever convince them that the "bag O' free money" comes from the pockets of families & businesses, and that it is never, ever "free," you've won half the battle.

Excellent post, and you're very right.

Talk radio is a big part of it--Rush changed the political landscape in the U.S., and Canada could use that, a national talk radio host who exposes the lies and distortions of the MSM and brings Canadians together.

Grits and scandal live on -- There is dancing in the streets of Toronto today because Christmas has come and THE GOODIES WILL FLOW! Until they leave for the cottage at noon for the long weekend, they'll be counting the GOODIES they believe that the Liberals will (this time for sure!) showering down upon them any minute now.

A House divided is not a cause for celebration (new citizen decries Liberals' divisiveness) -- By the time this is all over, the people of Canada may WISH that they had the lofty status of a banana republic. They live in a dictatorship. A benevolent one (for the moment) but a dictatorship nonetheless.

Lights out (David Warren)--At the end of a second week of disgrace in Parliament, I can find no upside. Paul Martin contrived to remain in power by purchasing Belinda Stronach (at the bargain price of one second-tier Cabinet seat). The Conservatives released a tape, recording the prime minister’s chief of staff negotiating the purchase of two other members; with no major outcry. The government, which had lost the confidence of the House last week, established the principle that “possession is ten-tenths of the law”, by clinging to power until it was able to buy what had previously eluded it, with the resources of the state.

Dissent being stifled...Andrew Coyne sued -- neither CTV, Global or CBC covered it on TV tonite. To me, this is a huge story and a huge deal!
Andrew Coyne has been providing the best commentary and reporting in the country on our national political situation and now they are attempting to make him pay for it. The Liberals' power and arrogance knows no boundaries, legal, moral or ethical.

Stronach hits back at 'disgraceful' attacks ...(and, BTW, Ex-CINO left owing CPC $400K!) -- she abandons her own party to hand a confidence vote to the other party, gets a Cabinet post in exchange and screws her old party out of $380K. But she's the victim because she was criticized for her exemplary conduct.
