Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz decided Thursday that the security establishment would recommend that settlers' homes in the Gaza Strip be handed over to the Palestinians, and not dismantled.
The cabinet is to decide on the matter next month.
In addition, Mofaz ordered the defense establishment to prepare to dismantle the synagogues and mikves [ritual bath], which would be transferred to the areas in which the settlers will relocate.
Mofaz made the decision in meetings with the heads of the security establishment, as well as officials from the Justice and Environment Ministries.
The defense minister also instructed the army that the soldiers be responsible for removing the mezuzot in the settlers' houses and that the settlers' homes would only be handed over to the Palestinians when the evacuation has been completed and IDF troops move out of the area.
Meanwhile, the army is also preparing to transfer IDF bases in the Gaza Strip to areas outside it.
Mofaz will hold a discussion on the evacuation of settlements in Samaria in the coming days.
WARNING: This is a high volume ping list
I'd burn the house down before I'd let them have it.
I would do that too. The whole idea is it cost money to destroy these buildings, and get bad press as a result, so why not do the right thing, and "MAY BE" gain some good will?
When can I move my family into your home? I'd sure have plenty of good will for you!
Giving away free houses to terrorists after evicting the owners is not right.
and "MAY BE" gain some good will?
CLUE: no "good will" can be achieved by this action. It will only fuel more demands for concessions.
How much does a match cost?
Wow! Ready made ghettos. I would burn mine down too! I wonder if they did this if they would be arrested? What if they fought to keep their homes, would they be killed by their government? Sick.
What..what, no good will? Darn.
One cent say, and get zero return! In my proposal, we can get at least a "promise", and appear to care. May be the SOBs will turn a new leaf?
When the IDF comes to expel you from Eretz Yisrael you will
not talk
not make a face
not make a sound
You will march single file to the trucks, sit down, und remain quiet until the trip is over.
Disobedience will not be tolerated and will be severely punished.
I'm kind of skeptic to the thought of bigfootbob possibly using that house to plan new and improved ways to blow you to smithereens in your new home. In contrast to the current situation.
Go Old School, leave them blankets full of smallpox...
did anybody catch Frontline the other night? It was about Kahanist settlers in the mountains around Hebron and supposed terrorism against Palestinians. Couldn't tell how biased it was since I know very little of their beliefs but I know that their homes shouldn't just be destroyed or given over.
Let's take it one step further. Gaza is "Judenrein", the Palestinians now have their own state. The settlers are resettled. Terrorist from Gaza attack Israeli citizens.
How would Sharon and Mofaz respond?
Would they respond as they have till now, on an incident by incident basis, with targeted assassinations of terrorist leaders, or since the attack is now one sovereign state on another, will they respond as if the attack is an act of war and really use all measures available in fighting a war?
I'd be interested in seeing others' responses to this question, as well.
There was one tragic incident in 1994 killing thirty. Which means Jews living in Hebron are terrorists forever more.
Were Shlomo Dvir and YardenMorag Kahanists or some other group?
