Mount St. Helens rumbling again

I am starting to think Mount St. Helens is like 'a watched pot of water trying to boil'. It will blow the moment after we stop looking at it.

It was like that even before the lasty big eruption in 1980.
I remember hearing it blow up and joking to my wife, I thought it was someone blowing up a stump or something.
Pretty impressive though, hearing it erupt from 100 miles away.
I had to call Mama in Alabama and tell her that her son Delmont was ok and not to worry. That was before I had my drop top Lucille and I didn't have to worry about any ash ruining her paint job.

It's not necessarily going to "blow" as most people understand it. MSH has erupted 18 times in the last 200 years, and it only totally blew its top in one of those eruptions, in 1980.

Most of its eruptions don't result in a cataclysmic blast; otherwise, it would be a big hole in the ground (which some volcanoes are) instead of a mountain.
