Paid for by whom? My tax dollars already get flushed down the toilet funding health care and welfare for illegal aliens. If you think I'm going to pay for little kitty vasectomies, you're crazy.
The county animal welfare society where I live is funded entirely by donations and the money people pay to adopt a pet from them, as are those of all the small towns out here. The animals are fostered by volunteers in their homes until they are adopted-one of my neighbors fosters 4 dogs and 10 cats at a time. As far as I know, only major cities fund animal shelters with tax dollars-another damn good reason not to live in a major city-they seldom even enforce their loose pet fines.
I have to agree with you on that. I live in the country, I even own a cat, which stays in the house, neutered, but ignorant people drop off cats all the time which make it to my place, where I have to spend money on bullets to dispatch them, burn or bury them depending on how much brush I have piled up in my burning pile, all which takes time. Cats spread disease, like feline leukemia, rabies, mange not only to my pets, but to wild animals like fox, skunks, coons etc. These people should kill their own cats. I fully support people having to buy a license to be a pet owner, and that they have one BEFORE they have a pet in towns and cities. Fine them $1000 when caught without them to pay for the nuisance they cause.
