I have to apologize: I forgot about the "generation gap" !
A lot of folks here have never heard of Angela Davis: an avowed communist,and member of the Black Panthers.
In the late 60's, she was charged with complicity,after a group of Panthers,who were on trial,escaped from court by taking the judge hostage at gunpoint.(As memory serves,they taped the barrel of a shotgun to his head or neck.)
The judge was killed,along with 2 others-one of whom was one of the escapees.
The guns used were traced back to Angela Davis,and she "went to earth",but was captured in NYC in 1970 (?).
She was found not guilty,made a trip to Russia to thank her avid supporters there,then moved (where else ?) to California,where she became a college professor (!)
She's in great demand on campuses around the country as a speaker on "womens' issues",is involved in anti-war groups,etc. (You know the drill !)
You'll have do do some heavy duty searching to turn up anything negative on the net,as the media have not only sanitized her,they have practically made her a saint.

I was a child in Davis' terrorist days and I only heard snips of news reports about her. But everything I heard back then was frightening. I remember when she was on the run, I was afraid she'd come to our house and kill us. I remember seeing her on the cover of Newsweek when she was apprehened. I slept a little better after that.
There is one woman I'd like to take to dinner. She's something else. ;)
