N. Korean soldiers, police quell soccer violence in Pyongyang

North Korean soldiers and police suppressed angry North Korean soccer fans at a World Cup qualifying match Wednesday after they pelted referees and Iranian players with rocks and bottles following the North Korean team's third consecutive loss.

The incident occurred at the entrance and exit area of the Kim Il Sung Stadium in Pyongyang after North Korea lost to Iran 2-0. The security forces took about an hour to bring the situation under control.

North Korea's national team has so far lost three out of three in their six-game Asian zone final-round Group B qualifiers. It lost its two previous games to Japan and to Bahrain.

The losses have put North Korea on the brink of being eliminated from qualification for next year's World Cup finals in Germany, with its only hope being to win the three remaining matches.

I feel very sorry for the North Korean soccer players; Big Brother will not be happy with them.

If only Kim would play, I'm sure they would win the World Cup.

What do the North Korean soccer players eat to give them energy? Do they ride KJI's private train to their away matches? What do the vendors sell at the stadium?

"...they pelted referees and Iranian players with rocks and bottles following the North Korean team's third consecutive loss."

Sounds like the usual ending at a Philadelphia Eagles home game...
