Extend that logic and find that all of medicine is now only designed to prevent us from being with God. We should then become like one of those cults and refuse all medical treatment.

Thomas Jefferson made this statement about the role of civil government. Pay close attention to his words. He stated, "The care of human life and not its destruction is the one and only object of good government." Hubert Humphrey, in recent years, echoed the same mentality concerning the role of civil government. On November 1st, 1977 he stated, "The moral test of a government is how that government treats those who are at the dawn of life -- the children; the twilight of life -- the elderly; the shadows of life -- the sick, the needy, the handicapped." Currently, the sitting President, George W. Bush declared, "We will defend the rights of the aged. We will defend the rights of the infirm. We will defend the rights of the unborn."

********

What's this say about today's government?

Another one who speaks without knowing the facts of the case. Why don't you learn them?

I guess we need to take these same artifical creations of man away from you too, the spoon and the cup. Then you can go ahead and feel the effects of terminal dehyration without the use of morphine. Then you can be allowed to die and be with your maker, or he may send you somewhere else.

Is anything that lowers the crime rate good?

The culture of death is also the "everyone but me" culture - solipcism. I.e., my rules are good for 'everyuone but me.' Neither Michael nor Greer prescribe the "bliss" of starvation to themselves, ostensibly because they still have something of value to contribute to society. I'd like to know what.

What I find outrageous is that the same Death-o-crats which had no problem in SCOTUS taking away the issue over abortion from the states have raised a stink over Congress tranferring the issue over Terri from the Florida state courts to the federal level courts.

Death-o-crats want what they want, when they want and where they want it.

re: This Judge has denied the parent's motion to give Terri food and water by mouth! Exactly what "artificial creation of man" is that -- a spoon? )))

Nicely put. One thing that I noticed with real bitterness throughout the whole Terri disaster was the willful confusion of a feeding tube with a ventilator-- one is very easy to manage in the home or hospice setting, the latter an invasive and terrifying "heroic" technology.

What seems to be the problem is the definition of death, I believe when you can not think you are dead. I worship people like Hunter Thompson and Earnest Hemingway who took their own lives. The majority of this country would be on some type of modern device for eternity if they could afford it. Get it on with the end when its time.!
