A spoon of food from her mother's hand is not an artificial creation of man, and she's being denied that as well. She IS being murdered.

Personally, I wouldn't call it a "Culture of Death". These are the same people who are so health-conscious that they won't even allow for second-hand smoke to be in the same room as them. I would call it a "Culture of Self" or a "Culture of Narcissism." That is what they are most interested in: themselves, and nobody else. If somebody is inconvenient or disrupts their goals and feelings, then get rid of them. Death is simply one means of getting rid of inconvenient people, whether pre-natal, elderly or disabled.

Why? Do you disagree that America has steadily embraced the Culture of Death long-embraced by Western Europe?

Terri is not being murdered - she is being allowed to die to be with God, instead of hooked up to an artificial creation of man.

So in your nightmare world, anyone unable to swallow must be "allowed" to die? Well, I guess that means Stephen Hawking's next to be "allowed" to die.

What an absolute ghoul you are.

Interesting to note that the "culture of death" has resulted in thousands of fewer murders, rapes and assaults in the years since 1973.

By your logic, legalized abortion has led to less crime.

Interesting. Well, inane, really.

eople tell themselves this because they want to deny what is really being done to Terri. This Judge has denied the parent's motion to give Terri food and water by mouth! Exactly what "artificial creation of man" is that -- a spoon?

For real. Executing anyone without the ability to use their hands, since they need to have someone feed them artificially, such as by spoon-feeding?

Hell, if feeding someone is "artificial life support" then why not kill anyone with diabetes or cancer, since insulin and chemotherapy are just artificial means of keeping someone alive.

Well technically, in the ogre "theburgii's" world, a spoon is an artificial creation of man.

Your portrayal of euthanasia as a painless spiritual experience is sickening. By your definitions anyone not completely capable of self support should be terminated. Does this include anyone on life insulin, Dialysis, or a Pace maker? How about an infant?

"Thomas Jefferson made this statement about the role of civil government. Pay close attention to his words. He stated, "The care of human life and not its destruction is the one and only object of good government."

mmmm..are not the black robed all-wise tyrants supposed to interpret the original intent of the founders?
Instead they are pathetic twisted abusers of demented half-truth legalese entanglements.

It's like a point I made (not exactly an original one) last night here. The Constitution and this concept of freedom, liberty, and representative government are nothing without a moral people and by extension, a moral government to execute them. Once you separate these things from morality, all you have is a secular, atheistic, hedonistic nightmare. In other words, a place like the present-day Netherlands.

Moral Absolutes Ping:

A fellow freeper (Outland) sent this to me today, and it is very apt:

"Call me a kook if you like, but I can not be disuaded from the idea that the Schiavo travesty is a test upon humanity. Not an accidental test, but one that was of purposeful and devine intent. Humanity failed the test and the ramifications of that failure may soon follow.

In the least, is has glaringly demonstrated how the law is selectively enforced; how little meaning life has in this age; exposed many self-professed "believers" of morality and faith; how our Constitution serves little more purpose than a door mat; how illogical humanity is; and worst of all... how our continuing apathetic inaction not only got us to this point, but maintains our course a totally unjust, immoral and chaotic society.

I'm not of the persuasion that this can't be changed, but instead, that it won't be changed.

In a way, it might be regarded as sick humor, but I laugh at the irony exposed here. Many "Christian" members of FR who are against the idea of doing anything pro-active or using force or "breaking the law" to fight an unjust imposition are the same who speak against socialism and the liberal mindset. However, it is this same apathetic inaction that socialism and tyranny thrive on and the very vehicle that it arrives on. They help to bring about the very doom that they dread. If we stayed that course long ago, there never would have been a "United States of America". And at this point, Im not sure there's much left of it now."

Let me know if you want (back)on/off this pinglist.

The author of the article quotes my namesake!

It's really hard to watch what goes on in this nation with little children being ripped out of their homes then raped and murdered. It's hard watching mothers bludgeon to death their own children. But, the hardest and most sickening display that has taken place over the past week of a women being starved to death while their are so many who are in full support of it.

Here we have a mother and father who has dedicated their lives to caring for their daughter and we are witnessing their torture at the hands of those who just want this women dead for no other reason but, just having her dead. Then we witness those in authority who could stop it but, instead are washing their hands of of it all as if Terri doesn't matter.

Yes, this is the most appalling thing I have ever witnessed my entire life. God help us.

snip..What are you doing here on FR?

Trolling and baiting are the words for what he/she is doing.

Anyone who would make the outrageous claim he made has his mind shut down and his eyes closed to the almost daily reality of children being grabbed, raped, and killed; kids killing kids; and so on.

Right on. Outland has an awesome mind.

"Culture of narcissism"......that's so very apt. If 'self' is to reign supreme, all others must become sacrifices upon the Altar of Ego.

In extrapolating upon the "artificial means" (il)logic, then people who cannot walk anymore but must rely upon artificial means (wheelchairs, walkers, perhaps even canes) ought to be "humanely" killed.

Make sure you never seek emergency room treatment, because an IV is also an artifical creation of man. Better that you are allowed to die to be with God.
