These elected officials supported the removal of Terri's feeding tube and we are seemingly out of options to get a court to order it reinstated. There is another option for Terri to get nutrition however which is to take food and water by mouth. I wonder if these people also support Judge Greer"s denial of a request by her parents that she be given water and food by mouth? This order is clearly illegal because it crosses over into active euthanasia. Has Florida enacted such enabling legislation? No judge or guardian has the power to deny a person nourishment by natural means and it does not take an attorney to figure this out. I defy anyone to find legal authorization, even in Florida law, for this order.

As is stated in another thread on an article by a doctor (William Anderson) in the Weekly Standard titled "Terri's Last Chance" there is no medical, legal or moral reason to not attempt a trial of natural drinking. He argues all the outcomes of such a trial, even if it results in a quicker death, are better than refusing to allow her to attempt to take food and water on her own. Only Greer's order stops this and such an order is not within the power of a court to make.

Jeb and George Bush should blast Judge Greer out of the water on this illegal order and immediately give her water by mouth. They should march in to the hospice with federal and state health officials and simply give her water. Who is going to stop them? Why obey an obviously invalid order? Greer is only getting away with this order by default because there has been so much focus on the feeding tube that this option of feeding Terri has been ignored. We don't know if Terri could accept enough nutrition to stay alive but every human being has the right to try to take a drink of water and this is what her parents want to do! If it works, this could allow time to dismiss Greer for violating her human rights by his order and overturn the guardian decision. At the very least it will demonstrate that we will not stand by idly while a judge commits murder from the bench. He may be able to order her feeding tube removed but by gum he cannot be allowed to stop her family from giving her water by mouth!

Maybe the judge fears that Terri could accept water and food via the mouth, if he didn't he could sure remove all doubts that he personally sentenced her to death. If this judge allowed the parents to give her water and food via her mouth and she dies as a result then he would not be held responsible.

The judge's motives thus are suspect.
