Mexico accused of abusing its illegals

The State Department says that the Mexican government, angry that a thousand American volunteers will begin an Arizona border vigil next month, consistently violates the rights of illegal immigrants crossing its southern border into Mexico.
Many of the illegals in Mexico, who emigrate from Central and South America, complain of "double dangers" of extortion by Mexican authorities and robbery and killings by organized gangs.
The State Department's Human Rights Practices report, released only last month, cites abuses at all levels of the Mexican government, and charges that Mexican police and immigration officials not only violate the rights of illegal immigrants, but traffic in illegal aliens.
In a press conference yesterday in Waco, President Bush described the Arizona volunteers as "vigilantes."

Interesting that it took the State Dept. so long to point this out, guess Condi is making a difference.

I'll have to revise my opinion of Condi Rice upwards a bit. I thought she totally caved a few weeks ago when the Mexican Ambassador gave her a bunch of grief about the Minutemen. But her State Department struck back pretty forcefully with this report. Good for her! Maybe (but doubtfully) that will shut them up.

He also talked about "ministers" unconstitutionally working out the plan for continental integration.
The American citizen is pretty low on the totem pole in the scheme of things today.

These volunteers are just doing jobs OUR GOVERNMENT DOESN'T WANT! LOL, theres a good idea, perhaps we could hire guest workers to secure our border.

In a press conference yesterday in Waco, President Bush described the Arizona volunteers as "vigilantes." Waco is definitely the wrong place to be talking about Vigilantes.
And they aren't vigilantes until they try and/or punish the people they catch, they are just performing citizen's arrests.

The Bush Admin - and, in fact everyone inside the Beltway - operates under the false impression that by going soft on illegals you can pick up votes in the Latino community. Some loud (but not grass-roots) "immigrants rights" groups fortify this misapprehension. However, poll after poll after poll in the border states indicate that legal American citizens of Latino origin are not in favor of illegal immigration - they did it the right way and they think everyone else should too. It is unlikely that the minutemen on the border will abuse the human rights of any illegals. What's more likely is that (1) they will point out how incompetent and/or overwhelmed our own Border Patrol is, and (2) a group of them will stumble upon some smugglers and be killed. The outrage from either of these possible occurrences would swing the majority of American citizens onto the right side of this issue.

Well stated.
I would add that even Illegals, once here, are against MORE illegal immigration by others.
