I think the government has a policy to let them in because their presence keeps many kinds of inflation low. If the government really wanted to stop this invasion, it would have done a better job that this.

I don't think it is just political correctness or worrying about offending Hispanic voters. I think that some folks at the top of our policy-making hierarchy have decided that illegal immigrants (like cheap imported goods from China) are ESSENTIAL for our economy. Not just to keep costs down for building contractors and restaurant owners, but to keep inflation down generally for the health of the overall economy. I don't know if they are right, but I think that is what is going on.
