Moran Meets Terri Schiavo's Brother
WJLA ^ | Mar 20 2005 | AP

Posted on 03/21/2005 12:55:36 AM PST by freedomdefender

Virginia Congressman Jim Moran briefly crossed paths with the brother of a severely brain-damaged woman Sunday, but refused to reconsider his position on her case.

Terry Schiavo's brother, Bobby Schindler, shook Moran's hand in the House Press Gallery before launching into a passionate defense of legislation making its way through Congress tonight.

The bill would effectively take Schiavo's fate out of Florida state courts, where judges ordered the feeding tube removed on Friday, and allow Schiavo's parents to take their case to a federal judge.

Schindler gave Moran a CD-Rom with footage of his sister. Moran said he would review it, but added his greater concern isn't with the specifics of Schiavo's case.

Instead, he says he's concerned about the precedent of overruling state courts and, in his words, "politicizing a tragic family situation."

Maybe Schindler should have given Moran a bottle of booze instead. That might have swung the b-stard's vote.

It was all for show.

Couldn't think of a better "show," than to make a political hack sweat in public for refusing to save a disabled woman's life.

Yes, this whole episode is a case of assisted political suicide for liberals and Democrats.

"this whole episode is a case of assisted political suicide for liberals and Democrats."

"tis a consumption devoutly to be wished.

And it couldn't happen to a more deserving group.

Only if Republicans capitalize on it for 2006, there will be more Republican House and Senate seats gained. Don't be discouraged if the Democrats scream hate speech and all that usual pap.

Dimocrats don't realize that not only are they committing indirect homicide, they are also committing political suicide.

I don't have a tv and the only news I get is here at FR.

How is this news playing in the real world.

What is being said in the MSM?

From what I was to understand from reading about Terri here I would have thought thousands of protesters would have shown up at the hospice center but from what I have read since her feeding tube was removed it was somewhere on the order of 30 people.

So it makes me wonder if this is really that big of an issue with anyone other than us die-hard Freepers.

The fact that Congress has passed and the President have signed a new law concerning Terri's fate would suggest that it is getting all sorts of attention.

However, like most issues it probably goes along the usual polital lines and Democrats are not hurts by it because those who vote Democrat either don't care or agree with the Democrat position.

Those who disagree with the Democrat position are those already opposed and not likely to vote for a Democrat in the first place.

Isn't Moran the guy who beats up 12-year-olds?

Her story has been the main issue on the cable news.

Does that include the likes of CNN and MSNBC or just FNC?

I ask that because I know FNC gives alot of play to stories that don't make it on the other news channels.

They're trying to spin it like she is in a "permanent vegetative state" which she is unlikely to recover from at any time.

I thought she is diagnosed as being PVS. Isn't that the reason that her feeding tube can be legally removed?

#14 deserves elevation to the status of the famed Elian photograph. Surely this is a very artful painting by a politically biased artist and not a photograph. Manefestations of the devil - which is a spiritual rather that physical thing - doesn't show up on film.

My husband hasn't been following through on every part of this case. I mostly tell him when I read on it and such. We were talking about it last night re: the states rights issue. He usually is good at seeing both sides of issues, so when I bring something up I expect to hear a debate. He said he was actually wondering why this wasn't brought to the federal level. I told him that is now about to happen.
