I was curious about that statement too. Was the writer trying to say that whites wouldn't allow their city to deteriorate? Was he saying that whites care more about their communities than blacks? Was he saying that it was the fault of the whites, who, by their leaving, made Detroit fail?

Liberals believe that white people don't deserve what they have, because they got it by magic.

They therefore believe that blacks need whites around, so the blacks can benefit from that big white ju-ju.

If blacks ever find out what liberals really think about them, we will have a revolution in this country.

I figure this documentary was inspired by the website The Fabulous Ruins of Detroit (which I may as well link to again)

There is, however, a similar sounding site produced by Stormfront and if I wasn't charitable I'd almost think WDET use that one instead.

My guess is that it is just sloppy writing by the reporter and editor.

I believe he's implying that large corporations, civic institutions, and state government would have stayed and invested in Detroit if the populace was white instead of black.

"of course there would have been government intervention"

On first reading,I thought he was saying benign neglect.
After a second read and your comments,it is not clear to me.
