Democrats fail in bid to remove feeding tube for Mideast democracy
by JohnHuang2
Commenting on the "pro-Syrian" rent-a-mob "demonstration" in Beirut last week, I wrote that Democrats and other critics of Bush's unilateralist freedom-mongering in the Mideast were making essentially the same mistake they were making before the U.S. elections: Misjudging public sentiment and believing their own press releases (i.e., acting like New York Times reporters). Just because the Hezbollah guys can scoop up a pile of Jihadi scum in Helen Thomas's native town and dump it all over downtown for CNN cameras doesn't mean squat. I warned Democrats not to pin their hopes on Hezbollah. They didn't listen. They pointed to the Hezbollah Woodstock as proof the Lebanese want the Syrians to stay and want no part of proving Bush was right. Besides, say Democrats, maintaining the 'peace' in Lebanon is key and, as everyone knows, if you want to promote peace, you can always count on the Syrians and Hezbollah terrorists. Hezbollah has killed or tortured hundreds of Americans, works closely with Iran and al-Qaeda, gets tons of moola from the mullahs, trains other terrorists in bomb making, and operates a network of terrorists globally. Other than that, pretty clean record. Liberals break into hives at the sight of a Ten Commandments display or some kid praying, so naturally they would root for the "Party of God".
Mary Wakefield, writing for the U.K.'s Spectator, had absolutely no difficulty reaching a full-blown Hezborgasm from the Hezbollah rally last week (it was her first time). Reaching for a cigarette afterward, she noted how size matters, and the pro-democracy revolution amounted to a pitiful "15 or so tents pitched" near Hariri's grave, "some students lying on the ground under blue tarpaulins" and, at most, "1,000 or so" demonstrators. "Only 1,000 or so people? I thought it was the whole of Beirut . . . Eventually, I worked out what was bothering me. 'This whole thing is for the cameras.'" Like the Democrats, Mary ignored my warning. "Learned" Middle East "analysts" last week were similarly scornful, sneering that the Hezbollah rally proved Bush was not right. "What bothers me about (Bush) is the euphoria, that 'Golly, all this is going to be great,'" grumbled David Mack, former State Department official, pouting. The ex-Foggy Bottomite didn't listen to me, either. ![](http://members.aol.com/billiews/JH2/JH2Lebanon2.jpg) Now look what happened: Chants of "Freedom, sovereignty, independence" filled the Beirut air Monday, as more than 1 million brave pro-democracy demonstrators, waving Lebanese flags, honking horns, and flashing V-for-victory signs, poured into Martyr's Square in easily the biggest street demonstration in Mideast history, dwarfing the crowd of Helen Thomas look-alikes which gathered there a week ago. "We want only the Lebanese army in Lebanon!" chanted the humongous crowd of Christians, Druze and Sunni Muslims. Buncha Mossad agents.
If spreading democracy and self-rule in the Mideast are "neo-con" ideas, then this was the largest neo-con rally in history. There was massive praise for some swashbuckling cowboy from Texas, yet none for Dick Clarke, Hans Blix, Joe Biden, George Soros or Michael Moore. Buncha simpletons. So huge was the demonstration, the MSM hardly covered it. The Washington Post, after shooting the story dead, dragged the body out of the trunk of the car and into a 6 ft. hole, shoveling dirt on it frantically before anyone noticed.
In case you think the Post has got its priorities backward, it reserved its front page for the trial of that prominent liberal child molester in California who walks around in PJs and says he hurt his back putting his make-up, lipstick and nose on. If he walks, maybe he can help Howard Dean in party efforts to touch younger voters.
(And, not to digress, but notice how Jackson's defense team is already injecting race into this? Which is bunk. Jackson would get the same treatment even if he were black.)
Remarkably, unlike the Hezbollah rally, the Lebanese demonstrators Monday were actually Lebanese, not dregs bussed in from Syria. Which probably has something to do with why they want the Syrians out. Liberals and Hezbollah want the Syrians to stay, warning that not having a tyrannical dictator in charge will only upset the "stability" of having a tyrannical dictator in charge and could lead to gruesome horrors, like "instability" and pluralism. But if you think liberals argue Arabs are incapable of democracy, you think wrong. These champions of human rights argue that people in Cuba, China, North Korea and whatever stinking commie rat hole still remains are also incapable of democracy, so Arabs aren't the only ones. Unless they live in the West Bank and Gaza. Somehow, those Arabs are different. Maybe it's the fact they live next door to Israel, and if there's one thing the Left can't stomach, it's Israel. The only Jews they ever liked were Jews during the Holocaust -- because they were unarmed and defenseless.
It's heartening that the pro-democracy movement in Lebanon has brought together Sunni Muslims, Druze and Christians, which is why you keep reading in the papers that the nation is close to civil war. But if their predictions of civil war in Iraq are any indication, you can safely rule it out.

Michael Schiavo, her two-timing scumbag husband, says it was Terri's wish to die of dehydration and starvation. It's what she'd always dreamed of. (Being married to Michael, what woman wouldn't?) He says he heard her say it, so trust him. It all came back to him about 2 seconds after winning $1 million in malpractice lawsuits which he would have inherited if she died. Besides, as everyone knows, when young married couples are chatting, naturally the conversation always turns to death, dying, feeding tubes and other pleasantries. Despite all the death chat, she somehow forgot to put her wish not to be kept alive via feeding tube in writing. That's her one fatal mistake. Not that Michael ever actually heard her spell it out quite like that, it's just that Florida Circuit Court God . . . excuse me, Circuit Court Judge George Greer says he's found solid evidence it's what Terri wanted based firmly on what Michael says Terri wanted.
Though she gets her food and water via feeding tube, she's not on a respirator or heart pump -- proof, says Michael, she's just a vegetable. She's not unconscious nor brain-dead, which puts her a notch above Michael right there. Terri isn't dying, that's why Michael wants to kill her and why Terri's parents are fighting to save her from her loving husband who can't wait to yank the feeding tube. Michael promised to love and protect Terri, unless she couldn't feed herself. It's all there in the marriage contract.
The thought of Terri croaking is what has kept poor Michael going these many long, difficult years of not being able to inherit those $1 million bucks which ended up being spent litigating his 'right' to kill her.
There are no candlelight vigils to protest her killing since she's not a convicted murderer. Liberals save their energies for people more deserving, like Charles Manson, Mumia Abu Jamal and other sweethearts.
Appearing on Nightline Tuesday night, Michael noted he's "always wanted to protect my wife's privacy. . . I didn't want to put her picture all over the news. I just wanted to keep her private." And he just wanted to put her six feet under.
But -- not gonna happen. A bill to keep Scott Peterson's long, lost brother from taking Terri on a fishing trip will be on the Governor's desk just in time.
Yep, shaping up as another bad week for Democrats.
Anyway, that's...
My two cents
