A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

DEAR GOD FROM THE DOG
Dear God, When we get to heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it the same old story?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear God, Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We dogs love a nice ride! Would it be so hard to rename the 'Chrysler Eagle' the 'Chrysler Beagle'?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear God, If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad dog?
Dear God, We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent ID's, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear God, More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear God, Why do humans smell the flowers, but seldom if ever, smell one another?
Dear God, When we get to the Pearly Gates, do we have to shake a paw to get in?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear God, Why do my owners go to the bathroom in the best freshwater bowl in the house?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear God, Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear God, Let me give you a list of a few things I must remember to be a good dog :
I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it, or after they throw it up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sofa is not a face towel; neither are Mom and Dad's laps.
The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.
My head does not belong in the refrigerator.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I will not bite the officer's hand when he reaches in for Mom's driver's license and registration.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is not an acceptable way of saying 'hello.'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I do not need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm lying under the coffee table.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I will not throw up in the car.
I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt across the carpet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The cat is not a squeaky toy; so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay...Giz back here...hope you enjoyed this...let me add one more...as many of you know I was a "dumped stray" who was "taken in" by my folks as many of our FreeperPets have been....Before I take my nap let me add.....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear God, in case I haven't said so....thanks for finding us such special homes on earth especially for those of us lucky to live with Freepers. Life is good!

A Cleansed Conscience
I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men. -Acts 24:16
The much-loved children's story Pinocchio is about a wooden puppet whose nose grows long when he tells a lie. His friend Jiminy Cricket chirps, "Let your conscience be your guide." Pinocchio follows his advice, repents, and returns to Geppetto his creator, where he is given a heart of flesh and is freed from his strings.
There's a principle in this story for God's children. If we don't listen to that voice deep down inside that tells us what we should and should not do, we live in bondage. But a cleansed conscience brings freedom.
Some people have no strong basis for making godly decisions. Their conscience is weak, and they can be easily swayed by the behavior of others. Then there are those whose conscience is defiled. The standard by which they measure good and evil is corrupted, polluted, and impure (Titus 1:15). But saddest of all are those who have a "seared" conscience (1 Timothy 4:2). They have resisted that inner voice for so long that they no longer hear what it has to say.
But you ask, "How can we have a cleansed conscience?" We must repent of our sin and return to our Creator. We must ask Him to conform our desires and behavior to His Word and then be careful to obey it. -David Roper
There is a treasure you can own
That's greater than a crown or throne;
This treasure is a conscience clear
That brings the sweetest peace and cheer. -Isenhour
Conscience is a trustworthy compass when God's Word is your true north.

God Bless Our Military
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. If you have someone you would like to add, please address a post to Billie; Mama_Bear; Dutchess, Aquamarine or Dansangel and we will add their name to this list. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nations leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.
~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~
We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision. The burden that has been placed on their shoulders is overwhelming. We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You guide them gently to the right decisions.
Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Love the thread Dutchess . Oliver material soon (computer & I are both getting better)..
for all..a vet's "tale"
@@@
An effusive client brought a litter of golden-retriever puppies to my veterinary clinic for inoculations and worming. She loved them so much, she couldn't keep from remarking about their cute habits.
As the look-alike pups squirmed over and under one another in their box, I realized it would be difficult to tell the treated ones from the rest. I turned on the water faucet, wet my fingers, and moistened each dog's head when I had finished.
After the fourth puppy, I noticed my hitherto talkative client had grown silent. As I sprinkled the last pup's head, the woman leaned forward and whispered, "I never realized they had to be baptized."

Morning Finest FReiends.
It was so nice to see the pictures from yesterdays get together in Newark. It sounded like you had a nice time together. three Ds were not there and hopefully we can all make the next go around.
Unless you have set other groundwork, I would like to try again to host the event - trying last fall was a disaster with all the campain demands. I had thought a Saturday (to include Deb, Duchess and perhaps some additional Freeper gals). I am thinking of the Warther museum in Dover - it is off 77 & would be convenient & rather central for Ohio & WV folks & go to a nice nearby (and even on grounds) area for a picnic, that we could bring various contributions to pot-luck style share..
The Warther Museum is a remarkable place ... I had heard many good comments on it BUT WAS NOT PREPARED for the treasure it is.. They have cutlery for sale that I intend to get next trip. The gilf shop is fun.
I think we all feel that others are welcome. It just so happened so far that just WV & Ohio folks have participated.
Aqua - I loved Phantom & agree with you re: big screen. I saw it twice (two different men) and they both loved the movie so its appeal is more than a chick flick I believe. But I also know some men who would dislike this. (Bruce willis nor the Terminator do NOT make a showing) I intend to see it one more time before it leaves big screen.
I slept 13 hours straight last night.. first time of more than 2 hours of sleep in row. going to get some things done.. later

The Warther Museum sounds like a good option, Dolly. We DID miss you yesterday.
Another comment about Phantom. The stage version has been seen by millions of women AND men, as have the other two movie versions (one fairly close to the book, one not). The silent version is still almost too frightening for this 'chick.' :o)
This movie is a masterpiece, IMO, and amazingly close to the stage version. Mr Ohio and I saw it at the Pantages in Toronto, and it was a remarkable experience.
The film did not disappoint!
