"...if you forcibly withhold food and water from an animal, that can get you locked up in my state for a felony. It's not murder, because it involves an animal, but it's still a major offense.
In the interest of accuracy.....

The above is from the Virginia Statutes....
BTTT!
Deep down, in my heart, I know that what you are doing is wrong.
My only problem, is trying to express the complex religious reasons that have brought me to this understanding.
All I can say is this:
If you believe in life after death, then keeping Terri Schiavo trapped in this body, is wrong.
"If you believe in life after death, then keeping Terri Schiavo trapped in this body, is wrong."
Terri Schiavo is bringing many, myself included, closer to God by the very fact that she is one of the innocents that we are commanded to protect in her weakest hour (legally.)
God and God only will determine Terri's "homecoming" in Heaven. Not a judge, lawyer and husband euthanasia tag-team.
Not for her body, but for her spiritual release.
As a Christian, I consider her life after death, as much more important than the body she is currently traped within.
However, I do recognize that some people view death as an end, and something to be feared.
While there are religious aspects to this case - Terri is Roman Catholic - her supporters also include those who are not affiliated with any particular religion, even agnostics.
The facts are:
*Terri left no living will, never volunteered to be starved to death.
*The order to condemn her to a horrific death comes not from God but from an estranged husband with a live-in mistress and a judge who has broken laws of the state.
*It is possible she could be rehabilitated - however, Michael stopped all efforts AFTER the lawsuit was settled. There have been a few cases where people who have been in coma for many years, one case was twenty-years, who have recovered. And Terri is not in a coma, is not in a vegetative state.
If you want to be starved to death, then make a living will, don't impose it on others. Someone has to be a sociopath to force it on an innocent person.
It means to take care of; to serve; to do needful things; to help and provide for the needy. This is a general word the respondents used to refer to all of the specific failures Jesus spoke of.
>> However, was this not the complaint that Jesus had?
Jesus spoke of five sins -- not giving food to the hungry, drink to the thirsty, clothing to the naked, not taking in a stranger, not visiting the sick or imprisoned. If we fail on any of them, we are not "ministering" to the least of his children.
>> Now, has Terri Schiavo been ministered upon?
No. Her husband used the money awarded by a jury for her care and therapy to hire a lawyer instead to kill her. She could have been helped with various kinds of rehab, but was denied care and even medicine. He wouldn't even let her sit up or go outside and sit in the sun. He refused to let her priest visit her, and would not let her take Holy Communion when they pulled her feeding tube last time. See Freeper archives for many more instances of abuse and cruelty Terri has been made to suffer.
To have her put to death by thirst and hunger -- a horrible death! -- is no act of mercy, but an act of such hatred for God's gift of life that the judgment is obvious and just to any decent heart.
This is not hard to understand.
You have stated your beliefs that life is more important than spirituality. That is your choice.
My choice is different.
Death is always ugly, and in many ways, Terri's death will be better than the majority of ours! If anything, we should all hope to have a death like hers.
True, a simple 22 cal bullet would be a much kinder death than starvation.
However, I have a strong feeling that the exact method of death is not what you are talking about.
Feelings, strong or otherwise, have nothing to do with it. This is the only method of killing her under discussion. Any other way of killing Terri would be murder under Florida law. God's law, "Thou shalt not murder," is not hard to understand either.
I merely pointed out the explicit biblical condemnation of this unconscionable cruelty to a disabled woman.
"THOU SHALT NOT DENY A FEEDING TUBE TO A BRAIN DEAD WOMAN!"
Thanks for the clarification. However, there is now a push by some groups to upgrade the Class 4 misdemeanor to a felony.
>If anything, we should all hope to have a death like hers.
No thanks, I'll pass. I'd far rather be murdered by a shot to the head, than to be murdered by dehydration and starvation, separated from my parents and siblings by judicial decree.
But that's just me </ sarcasm>.
Actions for Terri;

Now that's a righteous rant! Well done.
Do you mean like being given the Last Rites? No, her estranged husband wouldn't allow that.
One would surely like to believe that, but you are living in a false reality if you truly believe that to be true! Terri has been denied being given the latest therapies! We know there is something they could do for her, but Michael and Judge Greer won't let Terri be rehabbed. Haven't you been keeping up with the latest technological developments, or are you just going to persist that because it's not being done, nothing can be done for Terri. Get your head out of the sand! Didn't 9/11 teach you to wake up? It sure did me!!
Unequivocally, yes! How much would be good enough for you? Does she need to be out of a wheelchair or just be able to communicate? What standard are you looking for?
