I cannot believe the garbage and innuendo in the above article. It's guilt by alleged association at its worst. Talk about a stretch. A lawyer is given an award by another lawyer who may be affiliated in some manner w/Scientology (of course how is not explained), and therefore the lawyer himself (Greer) is somehow affiliated with Scientology too? This is nutz. Greer is a Lutheran, not a Scientologist. The leaps in logic necessary to try to make some connection with the Schiavo case and Scientology is absolutely astounding. The Schiavo supporters will go to the ends of the earth with lies, illogic, innuendo, irrationality, insults and name-calling to achieve their end. The continual and patent falsehoods put forth in the Schiavo cause are astounding. It's all based on emotion, just like that which Pubs accuse Dems of acting upon. This is really scary in its implications. It's just like the communists, any means to an end. Some of you people really need to get a grip here consider a little introspection, and start basing your arguments on facts, not fiction, not things you make up to advance your cause, not outright lies. May you people never get any serious control within the Republican Party.

Since when has Greer become a Lutheran? In a recent interview with William Levesque of the St. Petersburg Times Greer said he was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater, but has stopped attending because of a negative article appearing in a Baptist publication that his church suported. Greer said he also has other issues with Calvary and no longer donates. If I were a member of Calvary Baptist Church, I'd say "good riddance."

Why all the bitterness about this discussion? Your post: "...supporters will go to the ends of the earth with lies, illogic, innuendo, irrationality, insults and name-calling", (supporters should)"...start basing your arguments on facts, not fiction, not things you make up to advance your cause, not outright lies". IMO, lowering the rhetoric might be a place to start. I am trying to understand the issue, Euthanasia, as manifested in this FL-Schiavo case. Certainly an emotional issue, but I don't understand the necessity of these flame-wars.
After reading your recent responses, I suggest and I am curious to read your arguments based on facts.

I agree. It's guilt by innuendo. This kind of thing only serves the person who invented it, and could harm the cause of Terri Shiavo.

There's no good reason to publish this slander.

I wasn't familiar with your screen name, so I checked out your home page. After reading your reply to this thread, I think I know who your sister is.

Thank you for saying this. I'm just tired of trying to bring a little bit of common sense to these boards. They are positively hateful. And, I may add, without any compassion towards anyone but the woman in the PVS condition. And I disagree with their idea of "compassion" on that one too.

Their venomous hatred of anyone who expresses ANY doubt of their claims is astonishing as is their firm belief that Terri was assaulted by her husband when the insurance company and police found no such evidence. But a decade later their claims cannot be proven so they feel free to make them.

Sorry, Greer is no Lutheran. He may be a LINO, but everything he's doing is completely contrary to Lutheran doctrine. Be aware that the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is apostate, and so are large portions of the Missouri Synod at this point.

I am a lifelong Lutheran, so I have a basis for my remarks.

Greer got the award FROM Scientology, as I understand it. It was simply PRESENTED by this lawyer.

Greer's and Michael's possible association with Scientology would completely explain the discrepancies in the case that I did not understand.

Greer is a Lutheran, not a Scientologist

Wrong-O.

Greer was a member of a local Baptist church, and he quit the church after the pastor gave a few pointed sermons about killing the disabled.

Greer is a Lutheran,...

Correction: Baptist. And he has been asked to leave his Baptist Congregation.
