I tell you... I've seen a few spectacular meteors. But, this one was most stunning. It started with a blue glow and left a very long blue tail it its wake as it made a very slow descent all the way to the horizon.
I heard it was Dan Rather's Career...
Saw one, exactly as you describe, sitting on my patio in TX a few years ago. Took my breath away~~! Also, seemed like it was in slow-motion.
