I don't think anyone could answer the question "Who is Dan Rather" more succinctly than Mr. Sowell.

One popular spin is that it is a shame that a long and distinguished career should be judged by one unfortunate error like the forged documents that Rather relied on to question President Bush's National Guard service.

I agree...we should not judge Dan Rather on one incident.

We should judge him on MANY incidents in His Career, All of them Liberaly Biased, not to mention the "Back-Stabbing",
and Dirty name-calling. Dan Rather is a Partizan Liberal
Shill for the Left wing. Piss on that dirtWAD. good riddance...Now if they can just cancel 60 min. we won't have to look at his Rotten MUG any more.

Dan bugs me "Like tics on a Texas Hounddog on a hot summer night"

One effect of the Information Age is a heightened public appreciation for the articulate and credible voices of great, clear, and truthful minds, such as that of Thomas Sowell, which identify, by startling contrast, the mediocre-to-shallow, muddled, untruthful, and manipulative minds of so many whose voices are heard in the public discourse, notably in "journalism", politics, academic institutions, and among "celebrities".

Heightened public awareness of such contrasts and heightened public perceptiveness promise changes resulting from the Information Age as profound as those that resulted from the printing press, and such heightened awareness and perceptiveness are merely a small part of what's happening.

They should have fired him instead of letting him retire. As it stands now his future association with '60 minutes' will destroy any credibility it currently has left.
