OMG - talk about small world - when we moved back to GB from Florida we moved to a house on Cook Rd. just past Fenton Rd. - Was Morgans Market there when you lived there - I was raised in Warwick Hills - now live in Texas but can't wait to move back to Grand Blanc - I miss it - I graduated from GBHS. My 17 year old wants to go back to graduate from there and he really missed Mt. Holly this year - he is a snowboarder and he worked out there - how do you like TN

I lived in a small neighborhood that I'm not sure ever had a "name" as they do now. (I'm 35 so we're talking late 70's to late 80's.) Heading south on Fenton you made a left on Cook and ours was the first street on the right. Rio Dr or Dell Rio Dr. Can't specifically remember which.

Was Morgans Market on Fenton just south of Cook? I remember walking to a market there as a kid and playing Space Invaders and getting ice cream. But, I can't remember the name of it.

GBHS is now HUGE. I think the student population of 9-12 grade is near 5,000 students.

Never made it to Mt. Holly. Never much of a skier. Wasn't it an old trash dump?(literally not figuratively)

Love TN. Live in the Nashville area. Been here since college. 1987.

That was Morgans Market - Mr. Morgan has since sold - he was in a terrible auto accident - he fell asleep at the wheel and hit a guard rail on 75 - he had severe brain damage and lost one of his arms - Grand Blanc is HUGE - they have rerouted the roads around the school and added a million traffic lights - heck I'm older than you but I remember when there was just Little Joes, Falk Drug Store and Hamadys!!! Oh well, it's so nice to talk to someone that knows my little corner of the world!!

On a side note. A couple of friends on mine have done a CD of conservative country/rock music. You can see the latest video at http://www.rightmarch.com/iwanttolive.htm. This song is anti-abortion and named "I Want to Live".

Then you got Michael Moore from Davison who wants people to think he's from Flint.

Grand Blanc is HUGE

It's nearly solid development now from Flint to Brighton outside of a small area between Fenton and Hartland.

A lot of former Oakland County residents as well as Flint natives are moving to Fenton and Hartland.

I was back in GB last August and could not believe my eyes -one small hick farming town is like a small metropolis now - however, the property taxes are still really low in certain areas (unlike here) - we really can't afford it here so will be going back - I love Grand Blanc - it may be growing but you still get a small town feel especially around homecoming time - Fenton is another wonderful little community that has really taken off!! No one use to admit they where from Fenton now they should be proud!! Where are you from?
PS - Michael Moore is NOT from Flint - he is from Davison - a relatively small blue collar middle class community.

Aren't Brighton and Howell all one !!! I always liked Clarkston too.
We moved before Granholm was elected - what are chances she will be reelected?

Starting to become that way. Brighton/S Lyon as well.

Depends who runs. I think she's beatable, but it will have to be a good candidate and strong campaign.

If we could con Canada into taking Detroit, she'd be toast.

Haha, how exactly do they define a "foreign car"? What if the Isuzu had been manufactured in the US? What if a Ford had been made in Mexico?

How about UAW members who happen to support the President? Are they allowed to park there?

I don't see how they could not let them park in their own lot, but I'll bet their cars get punished.

Marines driving foreign vehicles or sporting a President George Bush bumper sticker were no longer welcome to park there.

This is so transparent, it's ridiculous! They're not interested in the "foreign" cars, at all...it's just the Bush bumper stickers.

Ask yourself this: what is a foreign car?

If you're talking about a car manufactured by a "foreign-owned" company, then you're practically narrowing the list to two (2!!!!) domestic companies. Get those Dodges, Plymouths, and Chryslers off the lot: they're made by a German-owned company. You're limiting yourself to Ford and Chrysler...and way down the market share list, perhaps Avanti (they're back) and a couple others.

If you're talking about foreign manufactured cars...the field's still pretty small. Toyota's are made in CA, BMW's and Mercedes in Alabama and South Carolina, Mazda's in Flat Rock, etc., etc. The profits may go back to the home office, but assembly wages are being paid here in the U.S.

Even if we do can find some foreign manufactured cars to complain about, many of those big names such as Saab, Fiat, Jaguar, etc., are owned by our domestic companies.

So, you take it to any level like that, and you've got to come to the conclusion that it's solely a story about the Bush bumperstickers.
