Operation Thin Mint

Girl Scouts of Indian Waters Council are asking if people want to purchase cookies for soldiers overseas. They call the project "Operation Thin Mint". When you buy girl scout cookies, you'll have the option to purchase some for soldiers as well.

The Girl Scouts get money, which goes towards projects in the community; and soldiers get a taste of home. The problem is finding the money to ship the boxes over. It costs over ninety cents to ship one box. So, local business are chipping in to pay for the costs; however, with all the cookies being bought for the soldiers, the scouts need more money.

If you would like to donate, to help ship the cookies call 835-5331.

Warning, Girl Scouts has been taken over by pro-homosexual activists and thus does not deserve any more support.

I thought most of the money goes somewhere else? That only about 10 cents is even passed to the Girl Scouts per box sold. I like the idea of sending stuff to our troops, but I think this gesture is just to benefit the company that makes these cookies.

One way to encourage donations for shipping is to put a box on the table and label it "Donations Accepted for Shipping Costs". My guess is that folks will just take the change and put it in that box, or just say, keep the change for shipping.

Depending on what the average 'per girl' sale is in the troop, the troop earns somewhere between $.40 and .60 per box of cookies.

Don't send chocolate (like thin mints) to a desert. Sheesh, it will just be a bag of mooosh.
