Sen. Frank Lautenberg is just up to the dems old tricks of trying make it sound like there's a problem here that could be solved with a firearms registry.
It's important to note that the FBI know that these people purchased guns, because they were informed, and they keep record of that fact. Therefore there's no need to maintain another record, and there's definitely no justification for keeping records of all transactions.
It questionable if the FBI being able to be notified and keep track of a legal firearms purchase is legal since they gained the information through the NICS system.
These are people who haven't been charged with a crime. It's likely that the majority of the people on the watch list are not terrorists. They merely have had contact with suspected terrorists, and the FBI is looking to see if there is a real connection.
Lautenberg is presenting the watch list as something it's not and trying to use it to justify keeping a permanent record of all LEGAL firearms transactions.
He's either extremely dishonest, extremely stupid, or both.
Why do voters keep putting people like him in office.
I wonder how much taxpayer money he wasted on this study the he already knew what the results would be and wasn't trying to use the actual facts from anyway.

He's either extremely dishonest, extremely stupid, or both. I vote for "extremely dishonest."
Why do voters keep putting people like him in office.
THIS is where the "extemely stupid" answer is appropriate.
