Questions About A Plot (Italy media questions Sgrena's claim)
Corriere Della Sera ^

In an Italy under shock at the death of Nicola Calipari, emotions are prompting people to say and write many things that perhaps in a few days may look overstated, if not embarrassing. Of course, the writer is the first to understand, and up to a point even share, what lies behind those emotions. Take the anguish of Giuliana Sgrena, abducted by the very people she thought she was defending. For one month, she was a hostage to fear and the unknown, then only one step away from death, saved at the last by the sacrifice of one of the men who freed her. We are well aware that the anguish was not merely hers. It was shared by her many close companions.

But when understandable emotion produces unequivocal, crudely polemical statements such as those we are currently reading in Il Manifesto newspaper, and which are echoed less assertively elsewhere, then it is permissible to put one or two - we think - not unreasonable questions.

We’ll begin with the crucial one, which is this: is it true, as the self-styled “Communist Daily” headline puts it, that the death of Nicola Calipari was a “preemptive” and therefore premeditated, homicide? Is it true, as Rossana Rossanda writes, that the Americans were shooting “to kill,” and that Calipari’s death was “an assassination?” Can we really subscribe to the picture painted by Ms Rossanda of arrogant Yankee roughnecks, beardless and/or whisky-soused, complying with the “American maxim, ‘shoot first, ask questions later?,’ and obeying without objection the order ‘when those Italians arrive, eliminate them’?”

I'm sorry. I can't help myself. I saw the name Rossana Rossanda & all I could think of was Rosanne Rosanadanna (sp). Never mind!

Pictures of car, which is supposedly the one Sgrena used, with the various versions of the statements she told:

Giuliana Sgrena, abducted by the very people she thought she was defending.

This premise is shaky. Was she actually a hostage or a willing accomplice in a schemed to shake down millions to fund the terrorists?

I read Power Line's blog and noticed the portion of quotes by Sgrena that mentioned a Hummer appeared as her car was under fire. On other news source, there was a claim about a tank by Sgrena.

I think this commie slut is/was part and parcel of a scam to feed money to the Iraqi terrorists. Her kidnapping was a sham to cover the transfer of funds or else a ruse to get the Italian government to give. In delight at having pulled off the trick, they rejoiced a bit too much, got contemptuous of the hated Americans and got a bit of what they had coming. That is what I think.

You hit the nail on the head! Too bad that the gas tank did not explode and get them all. 6 million will buy a lot of car bombs and who knows what else to destroy freedom.

Communists can always be perfectly trusted to lie.

Thanks for providing her photo.
