Maybe, but a dirty little secret of American politics is that homosexuals aren't a monolithic Dem group. As a group, gays are more likely to vote GOP than Jews, blacks, and Hispanics. From what I've heard, the figure is about 40-45% or so.
It's not suprising why -- the typical gay male is a Schwartzenegger Republican. Their per capita incomes are high, so they hate taxes. They care a lot more about the government taking thousands out of their wallet than they do about rather non-issues like gay marriage (especially because they can acquire almost all the benefits of marriage through contract and market choice -- contracting inheritance, living wills, choosing gay-friendly employers and hospitals etc.)
I suspect that being filled in by someone of Mr. Gannon's recent repute might be very painful indeed.
