I don't see the 'talent for speaking' part.

Wot's wrong with Alan Keyes? I don't know.
Besides being the personification of nearly every negative conservative stereo-type; self-righteous, judgmental, intolerant.....I'd say he's a pretty nice guy.

2004 was a bad year for African-American Republicans. Herman Cain, Dylann Glenn, and Vernon Robinson lost their Congressional races in the GOP primaries. If Republicans wish to increase their share of the African-American vote, then they must recruit qualified blacks to run in safe GOP districts. Too often, the RNC recruits blacks to run against black RAT incumbents in ultra safe RAT districts. As result, such GOP candidates receive little funding and are treated as "jokes" by everyone. Such actions only reinforce the idea that conservatives don't like black folks. If white conservatives want black voters, then they should be treating black conservatives with respect. In fact, I suspect having Ken Blackwell as the lone black statewide office holder in OH may have contributed to Bush's increase among OH's black community.

I wish the Rev. Peterson would mention the fact that there are many black Americans who resent the President and the Republican party because of this administration's refusal to enforce immigration and border laws.
Resentment is high because they realize that President Bush's affinity for Mexican illegal immigration is causing unemployment in their communities, allowing illegal aliens to take all the entry level jobs, working for less, taking the jobs that their kids used to take. This feeling isn't only among black Americans here in California, it's statewide.
The President needs to get tough on this mess, but he won't.

Wot's wrong with Alan Keyes?
Um let me give you the short answer. Farm subsidy ( aka legally stealing tax dollars and giving them away like Santa Claus) supporter , slavery reparation believer , hypocrite carpetbagger and tariff supporter ( aka looting consumers) . The pre-emminent principled black conservative is without a doubt Justice Thomas.

Are you a believer in merit based democracy ? What about qualified Asians, Hispanics and Whites in safe Republican seats. I personally am a believer in colorblind merit based selection.

"African-Americans respond well to conservatives who are not just there on election eve or election day, but who are in the trenches with them." Bears repeating.

Yawn. Blacks will NOT VOTE ON THE IMMIGRATION ISSUE. I once lived in a nabe that was about 40% black, 45% white, and 15% Asian in a city inundated with illegal immigration. That issue was the least of my neighbors concerns.

"Polls show African-Americans still hold a dogged allegiance to the Democratic Party,"
Especially the aged demographic who are about 100% 'rat.
They are passing day by day, and just by that alone the percentage of open minded Black voters is increasing.
Now it's up to the GOP and us to show up and let Black America know they're wanted in the party and have something to give and something to gain.
We can complain all we want about the 'rats campaigning in Black churches, but it's a fact of life and GOP politicians should be doing everything they can to be there too. It's where the voters are! And we have a more legitimate message including support of faith-based initiatives and support of traditional virtues like responsibility.

Although it is getting easier, African-Americans are still too timid about speaking out for the right, for fear of being tarred as turncoats and Uncle Toms. Bless the Jesse Lee Peterson's and Bill Cosby's for daring to speak the truth.
Dang the torpedoes. Full speed ahead.

I agree with you, but even if they run and lose, its a victory. It's a little chink in the armor that has to eventually collapse.

Good point janetgreen. Although that is a valid reason not to like Bush, I don't think that is why they don't like him. Have you ever heard them mention that? I haven't.
How are you doing? Top of the morning.

Rev. Peterson is in the trenches, speaking anywhere they will have him. I advise anyone who wants to help, support BOND and Jesse. He is like a light everywhere he goes...he affects people just by his presence.
