How Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld keeps from tearing his hair out, Ill never know. I know. He's an honest, forceful, forthright man who doesn't give a crap about a-holes who blather about things they understand nothing about and have the spine of a jellyfish. That's why.
Tearing his hair out? I'm surprised and rather disappointed he doesn't tear them a new a-hole.

This is one reason the MSM so loves McCain...they're both outdated.

Afghanistan, but especially Iraq were no match to our troops.
In spite of screamers of quagmire, 100,000 death and blazing oil wells, the Army basically marched through including obeying a rule of causing minimum enemy casualties.
Rumsfeld is quite correct to call for well trained, hard nosed, quick reacting commandos.
What Rumsfeld and any other General could not foresee is how miserably our State Department performed to establish functioning governance.
Powell won out over Rumsfeld to replace General Gardner originally in place and brought in Bremer.
Total disaster 'till a turnaround after kicking Bremer and his State cronies out.

A "permanent" presence in the ME is a given. Either in Afghanistan or Iraq, but you can count on it.
