Pentagon Seeking Leeway Overseas Operations Could Bypass Envoys

The Pentagon is promoting a global counterterrorism plan that would allow Special Operations forces to enter a foreign country to conduct military operations without explicit concurrence from the U.S. ambassador there, administration officials familiar with the plan said.

The plan would weaken the long-standing "chief of mission" authority under which the U.S. ambassador, as the president's top representative in a foreign country, decides whether to grant entry to U.S. government personnel based on political and diplomatic considerations.

The Special Operations missions envisioned in the plan would largely be secret, known to only a handful of officials from the foreign country, if any.

Hey guys, I endorse this. Let's start with a lab called Eastern Congo, where many Tutsi & Hutu terrorists have killed over 3,000,000 Congolese in the last 7 years. We go in and get rid of those bandits out there !

Don't forget, write to secretary@state.gov to act on behalf of Congo.

No "Max", "...arp", "eat" something out there needs reply this. Good readers, scan those guys to see if there's a "Max" behind ! Keep it conservative and very intelligent !

I don't think Ambassadors will be a problem anymore anyway with Condi in charge.

I agree, I wouldn't want to know how many clandestine ops have been blown by blabby Ambassadors, middle managers, and other State Dept. pukes.

Good points to all folks above. Push that pilot project ahead (Eastern Congo). The New World Order has just begun. 200 more years for Conservatives at the White House !

State Department is supposedly laden with liberal career officers and nothing Condi can do will plug all the leaks that will spring from these liberals if we try to do anything that makes the NY Times unhappy.

This is just outstanding.

If the career diplomats and others stationed in foreign countries don't like the plan, they're welcome to come home (and undercut the president domestically). There's plenty of work at Foggy Bottom.

It's time that our "boys" got to work in many of these countries.

SEIS

Secret even in success

Seis is 6 in Spanish.

I think of it as the Deep Six phase of the War on Terror.

Tom Clancy had a lovely fantasy about this that he titled Teeth of the Tiger.

I like it. The ambassadors can have their receptions, but let's get the boys to work, to start cleaning out some of these two-bit dictatorships.

One shot to all: you're just fantastic ! Time moving to Rwanda and put that house in order so terrorists (Tutsis and Hutus)won't cross to Congo and exterminate over 3,000,000 as they've done so far. Good muscles needed out there. Tell Condi to move forward: this is New World Order ! Freedom to all ! No more dictator out there in the jungle (Rwanda, etc.)!
